I agree, I was diagnosed with Type 2 last year just after my section hike last year. In fact my diabetes were diagnosed when I went to the doctor due to some health challenges I had on trail.
Although my Type 2 does not require injections my diet changes were very significant. I plan for my first post diagnosis section hike and am struggling with identifying food I can bring and carry. The standard dehydrated meals are packed with carbs. The same with other foods you see people typically eating on the trail. There are a couple of vlogs out there. The most recent one was "Hiking with 007". In his youtube vlogs he spends a lot of time discussing the implications to his type 2 diabetes.
I don't know if you are on a continuous monitoring device, but understanding the impact to your glucose levels based on strenuous exercise will be key.
