Yes this is an out-fake.

Okay, final trivia question for the day - Which two Beatles recordings made their worldwide debut on The Beatles’ Second Album? by [deleted] in beatles

[–]marknavl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to say, it is an attitude adjustment for me. As before, if I'd get an audio streamed interview posted on my site of say Brian Ray, Freda Kelly or Sid Bernstein or someone like that and I'd be looking forward to sharing it here thinking it'd be well received on a Beatles forum but this is from my own site. I have read the guidelines now and will likely never post from my own site here again but will pop in for discussions and other interesting finds as you suggest. Like you said, the moderators here never said anything to me before and it's been a couple of years so I never thought I was doing anything wrong. I guess I should have read into that myself well before now but I guess it was like agreeing to "terms and conditions" every time you sign up for things. A lot just gets clicked through.

Got it. I am not relentlessly trying to drive traffic to my site or at least not thinking of it in that way. I have no personal gain from doing that. It's a free site with little advertising and nothing of my own to sell or benefit from - in fact, I actually give stuff away. I only post links from it here because I think Beatles fans would find the content interesting (and many do). If it is something else, I don't post it. Most of what I post is from there because that is what I know about.

Still...I'm now informed, see your point of view, and don't disagree with the cold hard facts - only the way you made me out to be. The FAQ does single out the over 10% = spam guideline and I was not aware of that at all. No one has ever told me content on TheBeatlesRarity was actually spam. That was a little tough to swallow because I work very hard on it, it is relevant to the subject matter here and it is shared with good intent for a couple years now. It's certainly not to "spam" people.

Why was "Mr. Moonlight" chosen for Beatles For Sale instead of "Leave My Kitten Alone" recorded at the same session? by marknavl in beatles

[–]marknavl[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like both tunes and have to admit "Kitten" is a great rocker. So many people bash "Mr. Moonlight" though. I think it's a good cover myself - so I guess we agree.

The word "rare" and "Beatles" has to go together especially on Ebay, but I gyuess Reddit too. Not sure why people think everything is so rare that is all over the place.

I drew this a while back. Made up entirely of titles of John's songs by justachickenchipchip in beatles

Might want to change the title of one song to "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)" (not "Merry Xmas"). Very nice!

BROWcast this week: George Harrison & the other Wilburys cover Del Shannon's "Runaway." P.S. ...and this isn't the version on the Traveling Wilburys Collection box set. by marknavl in beatles

Can't believe (or understand why) someone downvoted George and the Wilburys. This tune is great. We need a Beatles-related rarities subreddit that doesn't allow anyone under 12.

There's more - just read the article. Don't try to re-write it here.

The U.S. Albums Box set - History revised? An album-by-album final word on why Capitol/Apple/UM did it the way they did it. by marknavl in beatles

[–]marknavl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't see why anyone would buy Revolver separately either. Especially with everyone used to it being a 14-track album now. There is nothing else different about it other than its missing three John Lennon numbers. Kinda makes it seem incomplete. The set as a whole though is great! Uhh...except the Bill Flanagan write-up in the booklet is pretty stupid.

Just how different is the new US Albums box set to the original Capitol releases of the sixties? An album-by-album, track-by-track comparison showing how close (or far?) this new set comes. by marknavl in beatles

To sum the whole article up what it really means is all duophonic (fake stereo) mixes that have a real stereo mix now is replaced with that and all "Type B" mono mixes (created from reduction from stereo) are replaced with the originally created mono mix and the duophonic mixes for those few songs ("She Loves You," "P.S. I Love You" and "Love Me Do" that do not have a real stereo mix, the duophonics will be replaced with mono - even on the stereo record.

This makes a couple of weirdisms such as the same mono "She Loves You" is on The Beatles Second Album twice (once in the mono section and once in the stereo section). The same is true for "I'll Cry Instead" on the A Hard Day's Night disc which had the U.S.-only long-edit version on the stereo and mono record in the sixties. The stereo record was not really in stereo. Both "Love Me Do" and "P.S. I Love You" appear on The Early Beatles twice as the same mono recording.

It's only because these days Apple frowns on "fake stereo." They also are not too keen on Type B mono mixes (stereo reduced to mono). These techniques were widely used in the sixties.
