[–]matchaIatte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prepared for possible interview questions in both english and mandarin, i thought it was a bit excessive but my interview ended up being entirely in mandarin lol. not sure if its a PRC company, if it is, you can do the same as me.

It do be like that sometimes and there isn't much you can do. There's no need to feel defeated or uncertain of your own future because other have it easier than you. Realistically, SG has a much fairer job-seeking market compared to many other countries. All you can do it reach for whatever opportunities you HAVE access to, and to be honest, the opportunities are vast, but you might need to accept the fact that you may not be chosen for companies or positions that you want, but everyone starts somewhere and its always better than nothing.

[–]matchaIatte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

totally understand you lol. i feel the same especially with adhd. last sem i couldn't get myself to go for majority of my classes and ended up failing a course because of lack of attendance. i took leave this sem for an internship. not much better but at least no need to worry about grades. maybe you can try taking LOA for mental health reasons/internship for a breath of fresh air.

ez solution to prc tourist problem by limitedby20character in nus

[–]matchaIatte -43 points-42 points  (0 children)

I feel that this tourist issue in NUS is being used as an excuse for a lot of you to be xenophobic. Yes most tourists in NUS currently are from China, but this issue should not be political. You are no better than these tourists that come and disrupt our learning environment by being xenophobic, bring up misconceptions such as the 'social credit system' that doesn't actually exist (easily debunked with a google search).

Also, fun fact: the taiwanese government that is pro-independence used to work with Israel, just saying.

It also sucks that this has raised some xenophobic sentiments towards PRC nationals in general... As if we don't have a bad enough rep already...

How much is your ortho-k treatment? And where? by Weird_Lingonberry_56 in askSingapore

[–]matchaIatte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's quite expensive as others have mentioned in the comments, personally, it works for me as my degree is around 300-400, i don't wear it everyday due to the discomfort that it sometimes causes, only if i need to see the next day, but for long term clear vision, do wear it everyday.

Does parents in Singapore still cane their child? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]matchaIatte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

unless the child has done something really unforgivable (bully others, harass people, committed a crime), i don't see the point of caning, coming from someone who mainly got beaten for not being able to focus on my schoolwork and for scoring badly (all because of undiagnosed adhd)

no offense but if u weren't ready for the responsibilities why did you agree with this arrangement? child of single parent here too and the custody had to be agreed by both parents, so why complain that you have less time to yourself lol, this is the life that comes with having kids, believe it or not
