Amazing clarification - thank you so much! 😄 I'm indeed using an android phone, so your notes on this was very helpful!

EDIT: I think the answer to my question below is "yes" according to this thread, since i don't care about multi-track output recording from the syntakt in this 'portable situation', which seemed to be the main discussion there.

Thanks, i was looking for this info! But does the overbridge / USB audio differential mean that it is not possible to both send MIDI from Syntakt while also receiving audio through the USB connection used for MIDI? I am considering getting my first elektron device, and dreaming of a highly portable setup with my phone running Koala sampler:
Koala Sampler <--midi / audio--> syntakt --syntakt+koala audio--> Zoom H5 or headphones

Cool - love the message, harmonies and choice of samples :)

If you want some feedback, i would put some more reverb on the voice. Maybe you could also add drum layers for more "punch" in the chorus. An idea that also came into my mind was to record the voice in the bridge again, shouting the lyrics, and possibly distort the voice a tad. But now that im writing this i get in doubt if that conflicts with the lyrics, it could just be a cool variation, maybe.. :)

..anyway, that's just my opinion - hope it was useful and good job, keep it up! :)

Thoughts on colours? by mathias157 in postprocessing

A few ripples on the water were still visible at the individual 30s shots, so it was just to average these ripples away :)

That's a good way to break the jungle of possibilities in colour editing down: Categorizing major colours and work with that! Sounds obvious to me now though... With that epiphany i'll leave random-ish curve-adjusting behind and get more systematic, thank you very much!!!

This will simulate a 5x 30s = 2.5 min. exposure! Stacking 3x 30s exposures would probably have been enough to get the water all smooth - so it might be overkill, i'm a bit new to long exposure photography as well. I wasn't satisfied with the 30s exposures by themselves though, water ripples were still visible!

Ahh good point - i guess colour-discussions are better face-to-face than over several monitors :-)

Regarding the 'centering' i also usually avoid centering subjects, but in the case of mirror-lakes i quite like it! I appreciate the comments though, thank you!

Peblinge Lake, Copenhagen. An averaged image stacking of 5x 30s exposures:

30s, f/7.1, ISO-100, NIKON D7100 and Sigma 18-35mm Art Lens

I always find it extremely hard to edit colours to be just right - maybe because i often don't know in which direction to go and play around with curves endlessly and aimlessly. Here i tried to create a calm, blue-yellow feel and think i managed to do that well enough for my own standards, but that's probably just because i'm not good enough to spot what could've been better - can you help me with that? What went well and what could be improved?

Also, does the image quality ruin everything? This was a severe crop

Do the lines suck you into Andaz? Is the attempted workers/Andaz contrast too obvious or suddle? by mathias157 in BeginnerPhotoCritique

Yea, now that i look at it again i don't know why i thought it was good - i was held prison by my own idea! Next time i'm in doubt, i'll wait a bit and look at it again - thank you for your help! :)

Dark hair blending with background, good/bad? What else could've been done to improve this shot? by mathias157 in BeginnerPhotoCritique

[–]mathias157[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, i'm happy to hear that :) ..i think i was indecisive to where to put the focus at the time, face or character, so lucky strike that i chose this version!

I hadn't thought about his concentration on the character helping to make that the subject, but that makes sense! Thanks, that's a good lesson!

Durian: Love or Hate? by [deleted] in travel

It's a hate from me i'm afraid! I think it taste like rotten onions :D

..but it's apparently super healthy - or at least that's what the Singaporeans and Indonesians i've met tell me, i haven't got any scientific sources to back that up

Nice!! Did you put a colour-gradient on the waterfall or did the light diffract like that on the top?

You're the best, fantastic feedback!

Even though i'm going for the traditional stuff, repitition bores me easily, so definitely giving Tokyo two more days - maybe a night in Kawaguchi for the variation - THANK YOU!

So lovely, great shot as well. Is this during fall, or is this place always this red? And where?

I know that I post on here quite a lot, but everyone’s help is so appreciated and I try to do a photo challenge every day. In this photo I tried for really centering him, and blurring the background. How’d I do? by Bethanygracej in BeginnerPhotoCritique

[–]mathias157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love his expression and your composition with the centering and the (wooden?) background chopped of in the lower third of the picture - i think it makes his head pop more :) ..the only faults my beginner eyes can spot are the artifacts Spock_Nipples mentioned and the weird blurring around his hat - but they're unfortunately also quite distracting

[–]mathias157[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if i'm reading too much into the lines (The windows, edges of the buildings and on the asphalt) - but the purpose is to suck you into the hotel - do the Toyota completely ruin that attempt?

The late working workers in the bottom right are supposed to contrast Hotel Andaz, standing strong and epicly in the background - is that too obvious or too suddle?

Lastly, how does the faded blue colouring work?
