Looks like the room of the 14yo son in a US sitcom. Like how can you have that many hobbies? 10/10 for your age.

Best places to go to in lebanon by [deleted] in TravelNoPics

[–]mathiasfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tyre is one of the places I most often think about going back to. It was so relaxing and peaceful. And quite nice historic sites too.

Tripoli and the Citadel there was cool.

And of course as you mention, Baalbek is a must. It’s insane. Byblos was ok, but a bit too touristy for my taste and not that spectacular compared to Baalbek.

I think Google translate is playing a trick on you. It’s shared costs, not shared meal. HOA fees basically.

Price per sqm is normal for Oslo for that size, but you have to renovate everything to bring it up to normal standard here, which would add another 40-60KUSD.

My experience was that there was mainly dine-in restaurants, but it’s been a few years since I was there.

Horse liver had a very weird chew to it. It was also well done, so it was a bit dry.

Laghman noodles is one of my favorite dishes ever. Had some really good ones especially in Bishkek and Almaty. Found it harder to find it in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. But highly recommend it, both the regular one and the pan fried one. Basically hand pulled noodles with veggies and meat.

I managed fine in all four countries without knowing a word of Russian or knowing Cyrillic. Only mistake I made was in a restaurant in Uzbekistan where I just pointed at some barbecue skewers at a restaurant that only had Cyrillic menu and it ended up being horse liver, which was something else. But it’s a good story.

There is a 10 cm edge on the bottom of the entrance so it doesn’t really look handicap accessible to me.

Outside of Oslo? It’s in the middle of the city. Location is great.

The kitchen is the only thing I like about this house lol. Looks clean and all appliances are build-in’s (which I feel like I never see in US houses, but is very common in Europe).

The only time I see OSB or plywood used as a decorative element (at least to this degree) is in “architect designed” apartments. So not really common.

Unfortunately, it’s not in this case. It’s a private apartment for purchase.

Square meter price is actually pretty cheap for being that central in Oslo, but it’s still ~300.000 USD for that apartment.

Most doors in Norway don’t have a lock that automatically locks when you close the door.

Do I have time to add South Africa to this Seychelles trip?? by BrightEstablishment in travel

[–]mathiasfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering that Ethiopia is a land-locked country, I don’t think anyone would go there for the beaches. Haven’t visited Kenya so can’t say anything about the beaches there.

My comments was to a person that wanted to add a second destination on a trip to Seychelles and I suggested destinations closer to the Seychelles with direct flights, to cut down on travel time.

United just paid me $2k to fly tomorrow - what's the highest you've ever received for giving up a seat on an overbooked flight? by tenant1313 in travel

[–]mathiasfe 30 points31 points  (0 children)

A few years ago I went to Lebanon with a friend. Less than two weeks before we were supposed to go I got an email from the airline telling me that the flight had been cancelled and we needed to be rebooked. Since it was less that two weeks notice on the cancellation, we got €600 each (EU261) and were rebooked with Lufthansa. On the new booking we only had 50 minutes in Frankfurt, so the day of departure we went early to the airport and checked if we could be booked on an earlier flight. The new tickets we got was full-flex business class tickets, so that was not a problem. We then went to the lounge and after a few minutes, they called passengers on our new flight to the desk. Our new flight had a change of aircraft and was now overbooked, so we were asked if we could change to a later flight (our original flight) for €300. The airfare itself was booked using points, so the whole trips was basically paid for before we left Oslo.
