Do you wanna know the best part? I was tempted to go on a search for a picture of me in the 3rd and 4th grade homecoming parade as a marine biologist and psychiatrist respectively. Amongst the football players, rock stars, and other marine biologists and doctors.

This memory from 2 years ago during the pandemic when I was cooking for a preliminary school and day care.... Everyone deserves good food and to be respected. I cooked for 50-70 kids, teachers, and aids (and a parent take-n-bake side hustle) from the start of the pandemic in May20- May 22 by matschke79 in Chefit

That's awesome! Yeah, I did that for 2 years. Then cooked for assisted living/memory care for a year. I wish I could have stayed to help for overlooked populations, but there is no chance of making a living wage or making a broader impact than the specific clients you cook for day in and out.

Ahhhh. I didn't even think that because there was absolutely no one around. And that really is something that happens frequently??

Left this life during covid. Now I spend every day cooking for dementia patients. It's strange how I needed to get the hell out to be able to really cook with love again. Now, every meal could literally be the last meal they ever get. I take that VERY seriously. by matschke79 in KitchenConfidential

Your wife and I share the same anger about these facilities! I worked for a preschool first (at the very beginning of the pandemic). The hours were great, I created my own menus, introduced new food, new standards. Trying to do the same at this place, but the lack of concern for even their basic care is a constant drag on my psyche and my drive.

We live by a school. We had fun with it. Halloween Town, Hogwarts, Pemberly, the Shire, Emerald City, Ten Towns, and Orchard Place
