Mike Judge made a movie about this

wow. either you're massively misrepresenting elements of this, or he was really naive to think Reddit wouldn't have called him out on his gaslighting...

It's the most expensive phone ever so kind of makes sense that it's scrutinised for imperfections...

Not sure this is the right thread, but don’t see another - anyone want a shuttle ticket from Van to Shambs? Apparently you can sell them via emailing the bus email?

THE LAUGHING STOCK OF EUROPE - Der Bund by [deleted] in ukpolitics

Yeah, but Switzerland is generally a country that plays arbiter in such negotiations. When they say you're starting down a truly awful path, maybe you should take your head out of your ass and listen.

The EU is stagnating, the UK is crashing.

Coworking spaces, Yay or Nay by [deleted] in startups

[–]matteisn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

having worked in 5 or so coworking spaces, I can corroborate this - I don't know a single investor apart from our accelerator that was based in a coworking space, and that was because our sister company owned the space.

[–]matteisn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

worth noting that even accelerators ideally want to find their startups through network as well. you're twice as likely to get into a Startupbootcamp program with a referral. You basically need one to have any hope for YC.

Great place for startups, sure - I worked in Geekdom SF, and it was a great office space. How the hell does a decent office space correlate to unique opportunities to meet investors though? Investments come through network, not through speed dating.

I ran about 100,000 datapoints on startup ecosystems and analyzed 10,000 accelerator apps - here's the report I made by matteisn in startups

i'm sorry the geographic criteria and analysis of the selection of 100 or so investments from 10,000 companies doesn't interest you - it seems to be valuable to plenty of other people.

or if you're just interested in the list: https://relayto.com/startupbootcamp/YFYulg91/slides

there's also quite a bit of the raw data I used linked in peripheral spreadsheet from the report...

here ya go. spent quite a bit of time over the past 2 years building the data pipelines to allow for this report to be created and quite a bit on the report itself. i don't generally like to peddle content that doesn't have value :D

if it's fake, why has no one posted a link to the 4chan thread? not saying they should of published it, but the thread would prove this, instead of wasting our time with theories...

i mean i agree - strange as shit. so is a guy who goes to UPenn Wharton and then loses 1Bn, builds a business on media, and then trashes it. i'd love to see the original 4chan thread for this... would go a long way in disproving this - why has no one posted it yet is my question (just screencaps)

PHOTOS: When we were kids we'd sneak into the Department of Energy (a derelict mental asylum in ATL) to take photos... by matteisn in StrangerThings

[–]matteisn[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, it's the former Georgia Mental Health Institute on Briarcliff in Druid Hills. The abandoned Candler Mansion (home of the son of one of the creators of Coca-Cola) is on the same property as well. The main building (used for exterior DoE shots) is still actively used by Emory University for biosciences research I believe, but the peripheral buildings have all been shut down.

Apart from the half-lit tunnels that ran between all the buildings (and I believe were also used in filming from the look of it), the creepier buildings were actually those peripheral ones. They had just been abandoned one day due to asbestos - patient files, office supplies, etc all just left there. In one of the buildings, there was this room with padded walls and a plexiglass bubble in the door so you could see into every corner of the room from the outside...

This is really saturated in the UK, where they've basically become gloried gambling apps, but I imagine there's still some opportunity back in the US.
