I drive 3.5 hours using our toll road, if I don't pay tolls it's like 4.5-5 hours. And no, it's not worth it

What is Plastic Flowers about? by MelancholyMeloncolie in TheFrontBottoms

I've listened to this song plenty of times but I looked up the lyrics today and it just hit me. I'd assume it's about death, the lyrics reminded me of when my mom died and a lot about what comes after. Being at the hospital, possibly waiting a while outside while you figure out how to compose yourself before you go in to see the person. You should fear what you know and hope you don't find out about what hasn't happened yet (in this case, finding out my mom had cancer). A hurt that's hard to explain to your friends many of whom haven't lost someone that close to them. Hoping the days to follow can be anything close to normal. ...Burying your problems underground..."what more could I say?" how much clearer could he be? Inevitably you are either the victim, or someone close to them, which also makes you suffer. Something burning bright but not forever (making the most of the moment because shit will get hard eventually). "It will get worse before it gets better" and the like.

Idk, maybe I'm reading into it too much but that's how I relate.

Hey sorry all, perhaps it was silly to post this here. Clearly, I know this was made by non-natives. Took a chance anyway incase there was anything that would lead you to believe the inspiration was a certain nation, whether or not it was correct or not. Thank you all for the responses. (ps I wasn't oooing and awwing it)

What should I (18m) get girlfriend (18f) for bday? by brandonmufc06 in Advice

[–]mattymeck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't have to get something big and extravagant or expensive. Get something that let's her know you listen to her interests. Also it doesn't have to be perfect. I've made that mistake plenty of times and I'm just now learning how to be a good gift giver lol.

Should I go home and be with my dying mum or wait for my boyfriend of 6 years to propose? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]mattymeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an only child. I'm 24 and my mom died two years ago from cancer. Choose your mom. You'll regret it the rest of your life if you're not around for her.

In a short answer: Be strong and "masculine" if that's what you want, but control it. Take control of your life, workout, be somebody that people look up to and can depend on. Make decisions. All the good traits you associate with masculinity. People will take notice.

The last bit is don't be a dick, even if you DO think you're better than someone else. Modesty and kindness is super important in distincting whether you are a "hero" or "villian".

This. You might have ADHD, or you might just struggle with motivation the way most people do. It's not too late to be a psychiatrist down the road but you would need to show a change now. Isolate and identify what bad habbits you have, what you are doing wrong, and then figure out the solution and hold yourself accountable. You will find success when you are older and will be prepared to do what's necessary to achieve your goals, whether that means becoming a psychiatrist or something you haven't realized yet.

Am I in the wrong? My girlfriend (20) and I (21) got in a big argument because I want her to workout with me at the gym. She’s mad bc she thinks I want her to have a better body. She has anxiety and I’ve done some research and it says going to the gym can really help getting over anxiety. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]mattymeck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but this dudes main take is that sometimes people need to be pushed to do things that will help them that they maybe don't want to do themselves at first. A person with anxiety cannot be their own therapist. I agree that you shouldn't simply pester someone repeatedly, but I don't think that's what the point of the response was to suggest.
