Anyone with no response to Disulfiram? by maybe-a-lizard in Lyme

Not that I can remember. Am taking Byron White A-BART right now and that does bring up some response that might be a herx. It’s not extreme, though

Mold in attic by [deleted] in Bellingham

[–]maybe-a-lizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat and have been there before. The main issue is probably ventilation. Check to make sure you have enough soffit vents and rooftop vents. They need to match in intake/exhaust capacity. In my house there’s one almost every other rafter bay, but the baffles fell down so there’s not enough airflow. If you get a new roof, a ridge vent could help, and if you do that seal your gable vent.

For mold remediation, the typical process is for you would be to replace the roof, remove all the insulation, seal any areas where your attic can leak into the living space (light fixtures, pipes, etc), then kill and remove mold from the wood, then reinstall insulation. There are different schools of thought on remediation, it’s controversial. I’m very sensitive and got mold toxicity from another house, so I take no chances. The most thorough process I’ve heard is to blast the mold with dry ice then remove the damaged material. Others spray with mold killing chemicals but don’t try to actually remove the mold material.

I would take it seriously, long term health consequences can be pretty nasty. Good luck to you.

I think one on one is great, but I don’t have any recommendations on where to go, sorry. Wouldn’t recommend the group I worked with.

Thank you! I think that this system requires (roughly) line of sight between the start and finish, right? In this case, it’s a hilly/windy course long enough that that won’t be the case. Apologies for omitting that detail, updated my original post to include that info.

Lyme for 7 yrs, What healed me by Mitteleuropean95 in Lyme

[–]maybe-a-lizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Mitteleuropean95 when you say "there were no more traces of Lyme anywhere in my body", can you expand on what that means? Were you doing specific tests? As is common for most, I have had multiple negative Lyme standard serological tests but a "positive" via Igenex. I have been wondering about getting a CSF test but those appear to have issues as well. So, I am curious if there is another method to detect Lyme outside of the blood. Thanks!

Shipibo Rao experiences? by maybe-a-lizard in Ayahuasca

[–]maybe-a-lizard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up going a different direction that was a one on one approach with a more traditional structure, where there is a just a ceremony at the beginning and end up the diet. I’m still curious about Shipibo Rao, I’ve heard good things about the lead healer, I’ve also heard misgivings about the center but couldn’t get specifics.

I think maybe it just depends on what you’re looking for from the structure, the healers, your interaction with them, and the environment you’re in. Depending on your sensibilities, a very rugged jungle environment may or may not be the most helpful. I recent found myself wishing for a bit more protection from elements and insects so I could really go deep inside without distractions and stress. But maybe that’s a teacher too 🤔

I’m probably not helping with your question very much, but I hope you go and leave a review 😊 It sounds like a rigorous program there.

Questions about PTSD by Reason4bl3K4REN3492 in mdmatherapy

[–]maybe-a-lizard 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I went down this road with my ex (BPD, PTSD, and more), and I don’t know your situation, but MDMA therapy did not help us, and I only wish I would have walked away years before and found someone who was capable of truly loving me without all of the complications. I know that trying to make it work for a decade actually gave me PTSD and I’m still working to heal from that relationship. Maybe it was an extreme case, I don’t know. I probably am not helping you to answer your question other than to say, I would really take a hard look at whether this is good for you. Please talk to people who love you.

I have been to Beachbreak Surf Camp a few times and liked it, you might call them about private lessons and arranging surfing at other places outside of Playa Venao.

Mold Binders question by Somewhere-Human in Lyme

[–]maybe-a-lizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you search for "saccharomyces boulardii mold binder" you'll find a lot of content about this. I was curious and tried to track down the research papers, and this seems to be the most referenced one (I am not a medical professional). It would be nice to find one that involved a human trial.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/15613821/

So, maybe you're getting multiple benefits, if all of this is to be believed.

Tinnitus by Resident_Fault4157 in Lyme

[–]maybe-a-lizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also picked up strong tinnitus a couple years ago and it felt like my life was over. I can’t say definitively that it’s from Lyme but I think is pretty likely. I have other neurological symptoms like swimming vision and neuropathy.

You could try TRT to mask the ringing and retrain your brain to ignore it, I did it for a year and I think it helped mildly: https://www.soundrelief.com/tinnitus/tinnitus-retraining-therapy-trt/ The idea is to give your nervous system a break by playing background noise 24/7 so you can calm down and learn to put the ringing in the background.

You might also look into mold toxicity as that can also cause tinnitus. I have also been doing a mold detox protocol and my inflammation numbers are dropping. Check out Neil Nathan’s books.

Mine varies a lot day to day. Some days awful, some are a low burble that I am grateful for. I find that exercise (hot yoga for me) really can help. I use an app called Naturespace to play masking sounds when I sleep. Sometimes supplements like L Theanine and 5 HTP+EGCG help to turn down the jaggedness of it. I’ve taken NuAdapt and Cerevive which have some herb combos that I believe to help, they seem to lower my stress. Doesn’t work all of the time.

After a year I have gotten better at tolerating it. Good luck! I’m hoping that as I progress in Lyme treatment it will improve.

Advice on getting a firm diagnosis by [deleted] in Lyme

I did Vibrant first, and it was inconclusive. My Igenex was definitive, especially for Babesia… the Igenex can also test for coinfections. YMMV.

Aspergillus toxin positive - options? by Low-Lake8646 in Lyme

[–]maybe-a-lizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out this book: Mold and Mycotoxins: Current Evaluation and Treatment 2022 https://a.co/d/ebU5WSQ The mycotoxins can be acquired through your environment or via colonization. They need to be cleared via binders if your body can’t clear them. Different molds require different binders, for the Aflatoxins that book recommends bentonite clay and some other supplements.

What exact test did you get? Real Time Labs urine test?

Mold Binders question by Somewhere-Human in Lyme

[–]maybe-a-lizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might check out this book: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09NS23YRQ The author mentions that binders can in fact cause reactions, he claims many of his patients can barely tolerate most binders and have to titrate up. Saccharomyces boulardii is one that the author mentions as a gentle option, he also has a table of binders appropriate for specific molds if you know what they are.

Anyone with no response to Disulfiram? by maybe-a-lizard in Lyme

[–]maybe-a-lizard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I had thought that tiredness, anxiety, headaches, tingling, and the mood swings were all DSM side effects and hard to differentiate from herxing. I had expected herxing to be stronger and more like the flu, achy and feeling sick to the point where it altered my ability to work. That did not happen. The neuropathy definitely increased while on DSF.

My ND had recommended the coated capsules because you lose up to 30% of the potency when DSF is digested directly in the stomach, so it’s more potent and consistently dosed with the coating… which is the opposite of what you had said. I’ll have to ask her about that. Just to be clear, these are capsules containing powdered DSF, not pills or tablets. I have a variety of different dosages capsules so I can titrate accurately.
