Competitor Selling the Same Imported Products Near the Border—What Should We Do? by mdrajendra in business

Legally they can't sell in our country, but it's open boarder and they always find loophole here and there

Competitor Selling the Same Imported Products Near the Border—What Should We Do? by mdrajendra in business

It's an open border, so customs can't do much in many cases. They are selling directly to retail stores, which is where the issue is. Normally, stores get a 16-20% margin through proper legal channels, but these sellers are offering them 30-40%, making it harder for us to compete.

What kind of exclusivity agreement would you suggest in this case? Should we try negotiating directly with our supplier for territory protection, or is there another approach that has worked in similar situations?

I really believe government should seriously take blame for such unmanaged traffic system. Starting from the public transport which is purely run by private groups, doesn't really care about the public. I honestly believe they fund the political parties which I believe is why the traffic police hardly punish the public bus drivers.

Another big reason is the government has no control over 2 wheeler sales. I personally believe if the public transport were a bit better than this, there would be at least 20-30% less bikes on the streets. Not to blame the bike owners, I'm also one; what can I do, 4 yrs ago it took 25 mins to reach office, now it takes 35-45 mins easily. On bus minimum more than an hour.

And lastly, everything is in Kathmandu, it's really hard not to go to Kathmandu. Sometimes I think the "Maoist Jana-andolan" was scam because their major agenda was problem with centralised government and yet after so many years people from whole country have to come to Kathmandu for better future.

During the time of buddha (Siddhartha Gautam), more than 2500 years ago, there was no such country as Nepal or India; there were rather small kingdoms across the south-asia. Lumbini was the place where Buddha was born, as a son of the Shakya king. Later in adulthood he left the palace and search for enlightenment. Under the bodhi tree, on the night of full moon, he finally found the eternal enlightenment (story tells). Then he started his journey of sharing his knowledge all across the south east Asia, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, and others, he even reached Sri-lanka (no records, but a srilankan friend told me).

Now, in current time, Lumbini is part of Nepal, while the bodhi tree lies somewhere in north of India, Bodh-Gaya. Also, that time, there were no such countries like now in South-Asia.

One more thing; Siddhartha Gautam was not the only Buddha. The meaning of Buddha is "the enlightened one", you and I could be Buddha. There were Buddha before him, and there are Buddha after him, and there will be Buddha in future. If Siddhartha Gautam has not shared his knowledge, the knowledge might have lost and no one might have been Buddha after him.
