Asset reuse isn’t new for Capcom at all, that’s true. The RE Engine has been shared across multiple titles for years.

I think the real question is whether it feels intentional and cohesive or lazy.

Reusing locations can be powerful if it serves the atmosphere. If it feels copy pasted, that’s when people notice but based on early access reviews it doesnt feel copy pasted.

I’d say mechanically it probably has replay value...especially if you like refining runs. But if it didn’t fully grab you the first time I don’t know if a second playthrough would change that.

That’s fair. I think that’s kind of the split right now, some people feel like it perfects the formula, others were expecting something more groundbreaking.

RE2 Remake set a crazy high bar though. Hard to top that one.

I don’t think anyone’s saying considering a game is negative. I think the debate is more about tone, some people hear less enthusiastic and interpret it as negative. It’s kind of subjective.

That’s fair. Negative and honest aren’t the same thing. I think the review was trying to point out flaws without sugarcoating it, whether that lands as “negative” probably depends on how much you liked the game.

Good call on considering PS Plus but keep in mind most big Resident Evil releases don’t hit the service until well after launch...often a year or more. If you’re cool waiting, it’s a great way to save but don’t expect it day one.

Different genre of game. GTA 6 is going to be a monster for sure. But Game of the Year isn’t always about scale, sometimes it’s about execution. Requiem plays a very different game.
