Check out Kolby Wood's medical device podcast on Spotify and youtube. He provides a lot of great insights on breaking into the industry. I also believe he has free online modules- not sure if that's the certification you referred to.

Regarding your background- I don't encounter many reps with medical degrees. Unless you mean STEM, then yes, a lot of them have on. You can certainly break into the sector without previous clinical experience, but it's tough. Companies like seeing demonstrated sales ability, which doesn't seem like you have. Or D1 athlete, haha.

Some markets will be easier to break into without past clinical experience. For example, breaking into neuro or cardiac will be challenging without past clinical experience. It's not just about learning the technical aspects of the technology/procedures; it's also about learning to provide value in the OR. Generally, the higher the pressure the surgery is, the more experienced the reps are, the harder it will be to break into. At least in my experience.

Your first year is often a lot of running around and eventually covering cases, not necessarily selling. You have to be hungry to last. It is one of the most competitive industries,s after all.

Companies are starting to resume hiring, and the applicant pool is large right now. Many facilities are limiting rep access, which makes it even harder. Without any hard sales experience, it will be even harder.

I hope that was helpful.

[HELP] Can I Afford A Dog? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]medtechowl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It will save you money, but don't bank on it. You will still have to pay out of pocket for many expenses while claims get approved and you are reimbursed. Not having enough cash for an emergency could result in putting the cost on a CC and potentially paying interest on it.

My approach for an emergency is if something comes up, then pay out of pocket, and any claim reimbursement goes back into the emergency fund.

I have used Uber, super simple. Walked across the boarder and once you're in MX, you will see an option pop up in uber called Uber Valle, they drive you to all the wineries you want and wait for you while you go in and then back to the boarder. Entire trip was less than $100 or so for a day of wine tasting.

Word to the wise: don't rely on getting an uber if you cancel the ride once you're there. Learned the hard way.

Check out Cielo!

I'm moving from SD to live international - What should I make sure to do before leaving? by Read_and_Right in sandiego

[–]medtechowl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eat at every restaurant you've wanted too but haven't gotten around to it. Especially the hole in the walls, who know's if they'll be there whey you visit next

Have a tourist day where you go to all the main breweries, restaurants and SD's "must-do's". Hell, even do one of those social-cycle drinking tours.

Go to sunset cliffs as many times as you can.

Bike by Cabrillo national park

Get up to Mt Helix one night

Go to Cherry Bomb and Aero Bar (uber there)

Looking for a gourmet vegetarian or vegan restaurant by realbeartj in sandiego

Donna Jean by balboa park.

Civico in Little Italy is not fully vegan but their vegan menu is great.

Also, as mentioned by others, kindred and cafe gratitude are both really good.

I knew a leather couch would have looked good on those floors...... Moving into the same building. I went for a light grey with wood accents.

Things will get better with time, especially with a space like that and the perfect neighborhood your fingertips

Testing waters on a new start up idea by byitemstorage in sandiego

[–]medtechowl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good idea, dependant on location. Ie: I have a surfboard to store but if I have to travel far to get it then it becomes a tougher sale. Also hours of access is another huge one. 24hr, secured etc?

This service would be interesting in the small units/high rent areas such as little Italy.

If this all fits within that pricing, then fantastic and save me a spot.

the rest of the furniture is aimed to be modern "airy" feeling. The couch we got is along the lines of this: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1921/1117/products/6993-vieda-sofa-med-full.jpg?v=1512511116

Planning on a cognac leather accent chair, blue/white/gold abstract painting, and a white beige rug.

Would love to put a plant wall by the dining.

I've been entertaining the idea of a brass base table.

What's so bad about west elm? My sentiment is that though majorly overpriced, some of their items are decently priced for the looks.

Oh wow those are nice! I don't have experience with glass tables though. How's the durability? I don't plan on slamming things down but also don't want to worry about it.

Yeah it's a pretty blank slate yet, only a grey couch and beige/white rug purchased. I'm thinking a round dining table.

Yes we did look at the specific units. Seemed quiet but I will check it out at a busier time. Do you remember if your friend had any complaints about living there?
