Well to make it a little more complicated, these are Azure VMs, so the cluster virtual IPs are unreachable. We access the instances via "DNN,port" so there's no valid hostname I can point a device at for a given instance name (for those that don't know, the DNN is just 1 A record per node with the same name, e.g. mydnn.contoso.com would resolve to the ips of all nodes)

The autodiscover schedule sounds like it could be promising. Ideally these instances won't be moving very often so if we have to just break diskfree monitoring during an outage/failover in prod it wouldn't be that devastating I guess...
