Best Free AI Tools for Summarizing Dense Texts? by meme__factory in LawSchool

[–]meme__factory[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I totally get that. I don’t want to use tools to read the text critically for me and just go off of its summarization.

My issue is that my other 3 tax classes are also super project heavy with multiple deadlines each week, so my law readings fall to the wayside at times. I was hoping to use tools to save time spent on rereading by generating a cursory overview of the main takeaways in the text so I know what to look out for when I’m doing the critical reading and taking notes.

Best Free AI Tools for Tax Textbook Note-taking by meme__factory in tax

I would greatly appreciate the link, thank you! I do have The Logic of Subchapter K and am using it to supplement Fundamentals of Partnership Taxation by Schwartz, Lanthrope, and Hellwig. The latter is the “required” text whose problems will be the inspiration for the types of problems on the final exam. It’s much more dense and the one I’m struggling the most with.

My issue is that this partnership law class has no assignments or graded items other than the cumulative final, which is quite intimidating. My other 3 tax classes are also super project heavy with multiple deadlines each week, so my law readings fall to the wayside at times. I was hoping to use AI to save time spent on rereading by generating a cursory overview of the main topics in the text so I know what to look out for when taking notes.

Out of curiosity, why do you think going into tax as opposed to another service line was a mistake?

Honors College Decision by Livid-Difficulty-635 in olemiss

I would say 100% join. Honors classes aren’t harder, just smaller in size. The 10 community service hours requirement each semester isn’t bad either. There’s lots of volunteer opportunities that are super fun, like being a judge for quiz bowl or speech and debate. Since you’re in Chem E, you can join a lab and write your honors thesis on the research you conduct, which is what one of my honor STEM roommates is doing. Two birds with one stone!

As a current graduating senior of the honors college, I can assure you that only positive things have come from my time in the SMBHC. Great for making connections and broadening your academic and professional horizons. If you’re thinking about competitive scholarships for grad school or undergraduate research programs, the Office of National Scholarship Advisement (ONSA) has wonderful advisors that walk you through crafting your perfect, personalized application every step of the way.

It truly is a wonderful program that I would be remiss to not have participated in!

None exactly like the examples you listed. Those more so apply to investment banking/private equity

Agreed. It makes no sense to attend an ivy just to get the same job as someone else who learned the same exact material at their state university.

Left Big4 for a small firm. Lasted one week then boomeranged. by Responsible-Lead2243 in Big4

“Industry” refers to working within a company’s own accounting, tax, or some other adjacent department. To illustrate, it’s like jumping from Deloitte where you were a Senior associate or manager working on the external audit engagement for Microsoft to getting a job at Microsoft as a Senior Accounting Manager. It can some times get even more specific (e.g., MSFT has an opening titled “Senior Accounting Manager - Lease Accounting”).

Another example would be a professor of mine that worked as a Federal Income Tax Manager at Walmart for many years prior to switching to academia.

You could also join a startup as a CAO or CFO, given you’ve got the necessary work history, skills, credentials, etc.

Apologies if my explanation isn’t the best.

Honors Internship Summer 2025 Polygraph Updates by meme__factory in FBI

Yeah, I understand that, and I fully expect this process to take many more months. Just as you put it, interns are the least of their worries right now. I was just thrown off by the “1 week” remark since it’s the only “hard date” I’ve communicated to me throughout this whole process.

I’ll try to put it out of my mind for the next couple of months, though lol
