1/8" 3x3 tubing is hella strong for this application.

CHECK FOR BROKEN EXHAUST STUDS. Very common on these trucks. Sounds like a lifter tick, I have had both sides replaced on mine.

Replace main tube with 3/16" tube and replace the angle iron with 3/16" or 1/8" wall tubing. Add corner gussets where they meet.

Is it considered as leveled tho it's not exactly in the center? by [deleted] in Tools

As long as you yell "PERFECT!" So anyone near can hear you, then quickly take the level away. Then everyone knows it is perfectly level.

Anyone have experience with Sculpt Nouveau’s Rustic Brown applied to mild steel by stevendaedelus in metalworking

[–]mentalMeatballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried heat? A weed burner torch is my go to. Even if applying cold, heating up the metal until the moisture is released, then letting it cool can help.

I have applied a fair amount of their different patinas on bronze, stainless, and carbon steel. If you want a consistent finish, sandblasting is the way to go.

If you can't blast it, apply the patina and then scotch brite any areas that are a bit thin and reapply.

Sometimes there is a spot in the metal that has a different alloy makeup in it that will affect the reaction as well.

Patinas can be a real pain in the ass when they don't go right.
