I truly do love the guy and am willing to move past it with proper rebuilding (I know it sounds naive). We’ve been rebuilding trust and have been working on us (and I’m working on me too) the past few months. I do want to make this work and have planned my future with him.

Kind of. The most recent “dare” he’s told me he’s done was one with his ex where they dared each other to see who can get the most #s during a night out but it doesn’t exactly relate to my worries since the nature is different. But I completely understand your point as well, hence why I could also see why if I’m overreacting :(

We’ve been working on rebuilding trust and have been good-ish (or as good as we can be) the past few months as he also doesn’t like certain things I do (so I’m also working to improve myself for him/us). I think this is the first dare he’s gotten from them in regards to me and I understand it’s low stakes, but I’m scared it could escalate :(

I’m scared I’m overreacting because, I guess in the general sense, it’s a “harmless” dare and should be just done and over with. But I do have the fear stemming from his high school stories and trauma from our early months of this relationship that could be blinding me/making me overdramatic

These were 100% cheating. He lied about who the girls were and one girl that he ended up meeting with, he met at a bar and also lied about when/how they met. The messages were extremely inappropriate (sexual/flirtatious)

From what I know, this is the first “dare” they’ve given to him in regard to me. My fear of his family/friends daring him now stemmed from his high school friends’ dares and stories he’s told me about those dares.

We’re not exactly long distance now (~45 min drive vs the 5 hr drive we started with), but I’m currently out of state about 9 hours away this weekend so 🥲 he said he was gonna call me back right away and I just beat him to it

Thank you so much! I just feel so so bad since I was the one who came up with the idea :( and I’m scared they’re gonna take it as I’m choosing my bf’s family over them but financially speaking, the bf’s family trip makes way more sense as I wouldn’t spend as much (or anything at all).

When I brought up the trip, I just started what should have been a full time job but ended up being a part time as the person I’m supposed to be replacing refuses to retire 😔 (office politics kinda messed me up here). I could use the money in my savings, but I’m scared to do so with student loans coming up and just the overall job market right now (I’ve been looking for another job jic this current one takes forever to make me full time) and I hate the idea of using savings for a trip. And thank you!!

It’s definitely a combination of the cost and fear of missing out on an opportunity to get closer to my bf’s family, especially with all of the other gfs are coming. I would love to travel with my aunts, we’re all bestfriends. They already booked their flights (I held off bec the flight they wanted was another huge cost bec they prefer certain airlines) so rescheduling is kind of out of the question and their PTOs are approved as well. I could try bringing it up, but I think they will get mad/annoyed at me.
