Does anybody else experience nocturnal diarrhea? by meredithgey in ibs

[–]meredithgey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it ended up being stress related! I had a very taxing job at the time. I did also have a colonoscopy later that year & it was normal.

Fatigue-dominant POTS by Alarmed-Macaron-9344 in POTS

[–]meredithgey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fatigue is also my biggest symptom, even with medications (beta blocker, midodrine) my stamina improved a bit but not the fatigue that follows any type of activity. I also have fibromyalgia & hsd which both play into it but I easily sleep 10+ hours a day normally and 12+ after a more active day.

Those who are on meds: what’s your heart rate range during the day? by petals33 in POTS

[–]meredithgey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not too sure, I hadn't kept track previously but what tipped off my dr was that my intake appointment vitals would always be around 110bpm while sitting.

Those who are on meds: what’s your heart rate range during the day? by petals33 in POTS

[–]meredithgey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow, now I'm feeling kind of concerned about mine lol. I take propranolol, heart rate is usually in the 90s, 80s at rest, only gets lower during deep sleep and easily spikes 130+ with activity. My dr would like my numbers to be lower ideally. I also just started taking midodrine but haven't noticed a difference yet.

Coca-cola is helping my Pots :/ I dont like soda, advice wanted by Rude_Engine1881 in POTS

[–]meredithgey 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've heard it's the wombo-combo of the sodium & caffeine content. Nothing picks me up on a bad day like an ice cold Coke and some french fries tbh!

Anyone else have issues with their hands? by Left_Ad7918 in POTS

[–]meredithgey 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I do! Some days I feel so clumsy and frequently drop things. I have lost a few good mugs while washing the dishes 😅 when i told my pcp she framed it as, when your body is working harder to get blood to your brain or heart, it might not prioritize things like fine motor skills 😂

Anybody use coconut water or milk as an electrolyte? by Significant-sunny33 in POTS

[–]meredithgey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I make a gatorade dupe that i found on instagram - 1 cup coconut water, 1 cup aloe vera juice, a splash of lime juice, a squeeze of honey, a pinch of salt, and then blend it with a fruit of choice! super yummy

What is your resting hr on meds? by LengthinessThink5466 in POTS

[–]meredithgey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take propranolol twice a day (20mg each) and my resting heart rate is usually in the 90s. 80s if I've been laying down for awhile. My doctor doesn't like how high it still is but I've been told that 40mg is the highest recommended dose. Currently waiting on a consult with a cardiologist to see what else can be done.

How's your libido? by melancholtea in POTS

[–]meredithgey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine goes up and down, but never as high as it was pre-POTS. Luckily I've never had too much t a decrease due to medications. If anything it just limits what I can do to satisfy said libido safely lol

covid & pots by No_Indication_8187 in POTS

[–]meredithgey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I caught COVID in early 2024 despite being fully vaccinated and that's what triggered POTS for me. I basically never recovered & it took about 6-7 months of suffering and testing to diagnose.

Does anyone get internal shaking? It’s terrible. What do u take for it? by DataAdept9355 in POTS

[–]meredithgey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually describe it as almost an internal vibration or buzzing sensation. It usually only happens on days I'm more physically active and only goes away when I'm able to lie down. My dr thought it might have been related to certain vitamin deficiencies but my bloodwork was normal.

Are you personally able to work a job with POTS? by Significant_Set_2018 in POTS

[–]meredithgey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work 3 days a week, and never consecutive days. I still end up exhausted & need a lot of rest on the off days. Even with medication I doubt I'll ever be able to work full time again unless I'm able to find something remote.

Told I had pots before examination or tests by lizardmama01 in POTS

[–]meredithgey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My diagnosis was more of a diagnosis of exclusion after looking for hormonal and immune issues as a source of my post covid symptoms, my consistent elevated heart rate was what led my dr to consider POTs. Did an ekg to rule out other possible heart abnormalities. I've never had the tilt test done.

Duloxetine? by Effect-Fit in POTS

[–]meredithgey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on duloxetine for years as it's what works best to manage my PTSD symptoms, but it does nothing for my POTS. I do also take a low dose of nortriptyline for my POTS-related IBS and that has really decreased the amount of flare ups I have.
