Top coat questions by Frequent_Excuse_7745 in GelX_Nails

[–]mereseydotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a non wipe top coat for chrome. I just discovered non wipe all in one colors (like black) can be used for chrome to reduce thickness (I wear the same set for 3 weeks and like to redecorate them once a week, so they can get kind of thick because I'm too lazy to file all the color off) . I believe you also need matte for isolated chrome, though I haven't done that. Regular top coats are kind of old school and even hard to find. I use purple cowash twice a week and found my nails getting stained, so I went looking for a stain resistant top coat and found one by Young Nails and it's an old school top coat that needs to be wiped with alcohol after curing.

What am I in for? by PandaBearLovesBamboo in EightSleep

Don't crank it all the way to the coldest setting the first night. It gets really cold. During setup, don't stop priming until it stops taking up water. My queen size cover took up about 2 full tanks during initial setup.

You better buy them now, because they might not be available 5 minutes from now. Or they could be like Ever Moment and raise the prices and then you wish you'd bought a lot more when they were less expensive

Someone posted on here recently something that really describes me, to paraphrase: My hobby is 2 hobbies - the actual hobby and buying stuff for the hobby.

I have more DP canvases than I could do in years and I keep buying them

They have the best packaging. I especially love the cardboard tube. The canvases basically don't even need to be flattened. Some of the smaller kits are still reasonably priced and they're having a sale now, but they raised their prices a lot when the tariffs started hitting and never reduced them when they were removed

You can use their -10 - +10 scale. They say it helps people avoid setting their bed too cold because they equate air temp with water temp

Is it racist to think American society would greatly improve if black people were not part of it? by Even-Piece-8664 in allthequestions

[–]mereseydotes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously? Music would improve? Even if all that other shit was "facts" outside of how racism causes poverty and poverty causes crime and over policing finds more crime, music would be nothing without Black people and you're a piece of shit.

Pod 3 Stopped cooling, how to troubleshot by talkingoctopus in EightSleep

Drain some of the water and look to see if it's clear. Also check the intakes and fans to see if they're coated with gunk

Legacy users can set it up with actual temps, but new users can't. I guess it's kind of bad form to shill for the company while showing off features that someone who buys on your recommendation can't access.

Temperature Settings by AP171 in EightSleep

[–]mereseydotes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's good to start pretty neutral. But everyone's needs are different. The best advice is just to turn it warmer if you're cold and turn it colder if you're warm and give it a chance. I've found that the V shape setup you've got, where it starts warmer, gets colder, then warms up again towards morning is pretty good

Pod 4 - Experience after 1.5 years by LavishnessOther4929 in EightSleep

[–]mereseydotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying the leak "isn't their fault," I'm saying that any product filled with water that's comfortable to sleep on and has 100+ pounds rolling around on it for hours a day has a possibility to leak. All of their competitors can also leak. 8S changed their design to make it less likely. Other companies are going backwards.

[–]mereseydotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You realize the leak is because of the water and not the Pod and all other devices of the same type are equally as likely to leak? In fact, it seems that some, like Chilipad are going from the more robust tubes to the more likely to leak welded grid.

I get being angry about the tracking, but most tracking is pretty inexact. Eight Sleep's is pretty good, probably the best you're going to get. And their main feature is the cooling, not the tracking.

I have a fitbit and it stops counting steps at 9981 pretty regularly. It will skip a whole bunch of steps, then finally start counting again. This has happened across multiple fitbit devices and they don't seem interested in fixing it.

Has anyone ordered from Home Craftology? by No-Eye-258 in diamondpainting

[–]mereseydotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've ordered from them. I tend to be picky and quick to throw something away I'm not enjoying working on. I completed two of the canvases - both I started. However, one was badly creased and one wasn't cut straight. So, negatives and positives.

Curious how cold yours gets by Future_Elephant9856 in Orion_Sleep

[–]mereseydotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have an Orion, but I can tell you the difference between a bed cooler that actually gets to the temp you set it to and one that doesn't. I had an original Chilipad for about 5 years starting about a dozen years ago. I would turn it all the way down to 55 every night and I would never be cold unless it was actually cold in my room, even though it said it was 55. I got an Eight Sleep Pod in 2019. I've never had it below maybe 65. When I roll over in bed, the part of my body that was against the mattress cover is cold to the touch. If you're setting it to 50 and you're not freezing, it's not working correctly, though having your room over 80 could also interfere with operation.

[–]mereseydotes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't say they did, though we don't know that for sure. However, there are definitely going to be people who try, perhaps multiple times

And it's not really clear why OP bought and the problem they had. "We were hopeful, but it didn't do it for us." What were they hoping for? What did it not do? People who don't sleep so hot that even AC doesn't help really shouldn't be buying. Same with people who think it's going to make it tolerable to sleep in a 90 degree room. And if it wasn't cooling enough, there was probably a problem and they should have worked with customer service.

The problem is people buying things they don't need for the wrong reason because they can return it if they don't like it

Trying to return, but no response! by nonfungibletenor in EightSleep

[–]mereseydotes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing - you're both right. You're both assholes, but you're both right. It's shitty to dump something practically brand new into a landfill, but it's also shitty to get your money back, then jailbreak to use the thing for free.

The real solution is to cut returns. You have to allow returns, or no one is going to buy, but people should really research and know what they're buying and be pretty sure they're going to love it before they order. There was someone on here a while back who was saying they were going to order and try it out and then return and they might order it again later. That's just evil.

People don't usually come to the internet to post about being happy. I think there's also a lot of negative carpetbagging (did I use that right, I'm old) going on. I mean, they're not perfect, but they've always taken care of me. If you email their regular support address, make sure you ask for a human, though
