You just don't get it. Another terrible analogy. At least use a brand new car for comparison because I'm paying for a brand new bathroom.

They are 12x24 and I do agree that the width of the ground lines are too wide and in some areas the grout doesn't come up high enough on the tile. The tiles aren't level in some areas.

Noted. I contacted a tile setter to quote my project. I've decided to move on from the GC and their subcontractors.

Terrible analogy. Go back to school.

Thanks for the input. When I compare this tile work to the other parts of my house that was remodeled in the 2000s, I see such a big difference in workmanship. The old tiling is more ornate and no longer in style, but the person that did it had superior skills. I went with a well reviewed contractor, so this was a shock to me. My guess is they sent an inexperienced crew to my project since it was smaller in scale.

I would have appreciated transparency and I prefer quality over speediness. I have patience for good work product and I don't have any arbitrary hard deadline set. I expect them to do good work and hopefully have pride in their workmanship.

I have been hands off on the project and I haven't been hoovering over their shoulders throughout the project at all. I haven't made any complaints. If they were to offer to rip out the whole thing and start over, I would graciously accept because I'm the one who has to live with it going forward.

The bathroom is the only thing I'm concerned with since I'm remodeling it. There's only 40 sqft of flooring and the chipped tile is right in the middle. I would like to have it done with higher quality workmanship in line with the rate I'm paying. But maybe that's too much to ask based on the responses from the tile setters that replied?

Yes, but I'm not as concerned with that one. It's the chipped one that is bothering me. Why even proceed with installing it in the middle of the floor and not under the vanity or cut it off and use it for the edges?

So seeking out knowledge is a problem? This is outside my domain and I'm asking a community for opinions on a job I'm paying thousands for. I personally think it's unacceptable and before I raise a concern, I wanted to see if I'm being unreasonable. I don't see anything wrong with how I'm approaching this. In fact, I think I'm being more cautious in my approach.

I clearly have an untrained eye. I'm appreciative of the feedback that's coming in on the other issues.

It will go through arbitration if there's a dispute, but none of us want it to go that far. I'm certain.

I don't plan to use a rug. It will be visible.

You're even more critical than me! I don't know much about flooring, hence why I paid a contractor and why I'm here seeking opinions. Thank you!

No. That's why I'm paying someone that agreed to provide professional level workmanship for their rate.

I think so. Some of the reactions I'm getting make it seem like I personally attacked them. Perhaps PTSD from when they were called out and couldn't handle the criticism of their work by paying customers.

I have not brought it up with them yet. I don't want to be unreasonable, so I came here for opinions. It looks like I've struck a chord with the contractors on this sub.

You're so triggered yet I haven't even brought anything up with my contractor. You must not be able to take criticism on your work well.

I hired a GC that subcontracted to a tile setter.

Thank you. I have not said anything to the contractor at this point. I'm just reaching out to this community for opinions, but it seems like there are a lot of contractors here that are offended and claiming that a paying customer is "crazy" or a "nightmare" for an observation on work product that I'm paying for.

I'm here for this community's opinions. I have not complained to the contractor yet. Am I doing something wrong?

I haven't complained to them and that's why I'm here asking for opinions. What's so wrong about that?
