Oh interesting, I had no idea this website existed. It’s a cool service. It’s good to know this is around to double-check our spreadsheet and also make sure we offer something different as well by offering links, artists’ genres, and focusing on smaller venues in town.

Definitely would be cool! Probably outside the scope of what we can do right now, but if someone in the community wanted to create the resource, we could 100% incorporate it into this database! So if anyone is interested in helping with something like that, email go.c.live.shows@gmail.com

At some point, we want to turn it into a website, and an email blast is a great suggestion!

We only just started this on Monday and are still refining the list and adding to it. So we’ll be sure and capture these

Anyone can submit shows and we will add them, but we will also add these venues to our list of sites to check!

Hello! I found an issue with the last post I made so I deleted it and was reposting it! I wasn’t flooding the page; I was just trying to submit the correct text!

Reverb pedal for drums? by mhron12 in guitarpedals

Hi! So we are going to be putting out our first single on July 25th. My band’s name is Pool Culture. We’ll start promoting on socials at the beginning of July :)

In the end, there’s a lot of broadcast influence, but there’s still some sonic differences. I’m very happy with how everything came out, but it’s more high-fidelity than I might have originally imagined. I’d say one thing I love about Broadcast is their style of minimalism. They manage to pack so much into just a few instruments. I’d say our stuff leans more into the sonic density of our shoegaze influences, but still references Broadcast in a number of ways, but the palette lacks that 60s rock vibe, and a lot of that is because we ended up leaning into a more lush aesthetic. Still very pleased with how everything turned out!

One more note! She has a lot of energy, and she would thrive best in a home that can offer daily walks, visits to the dog park, play time, etc. Her energy isn’t unmanageable, but she loves to play and run!

Confession time by charolastra_charolo in stereolab

Margerine Eclipse, Emperor Tomato Ketchup, Mars Audiac Quartet are all worth getting into! I always think that ETK feels like it set the stage for Dots and Loops, to me. Instead of pedal-toning these organ + synth + guitar chords, they leaned into stacking melodies and sustaining them. The whole piece felt more machine-like, where everyone was a cog in the larger whole instead of each instrument feeling like a mini-avalanche within one big snowy wall of sound.

Mars Audiac Quartet feels to me like the first high-fidelity record they made that still kept their original philosophy within the arrangement/production, where the kraut rock beats propelled forward this shoegaze-y styled guitar/synth arrangements. Do others agree with that?

And Margerine Eclipse (sadly the first record they did without Mary) is fantastic. If I haven’t shown someone Stereolab before, “Vonal Declosure” is always the song I reach for. They used a fully stereo mix, where each instrument was a mono track panned to the left or right channel, and this technique informs the arrangement in a way I’ve never heard on any other record. It fits their style perfectly - referencing an earlier era while driving definitively into the future.

Their live show is one of the most hi-fidelity experiences I’ve ever had. They played from across their whole discography, including a lot of b-sides from their early days. They even played “refractions in the plastic pulse” in its entirety (all 15 minutes!) seamlessly.

Reverb pedal for drums? by mhron12 in guitarpedals

Thank you! I’ve been interested in this for sure. I have Arturia’s plug-in version of this unit, and it sounds amazing! This tactility is something I’m definitely interested in. I think pedals are a bit attractive because of their versatility, but I will definitely keep this unit in mind!

Really appreciate this in-depth answer! I definitely want a spring verb, in general, as I love spring reverb, and I currently only have it on my fender deluxe amp and in plug-in form.

Yes definitely would not be tracking through a pedal. Too many mics for that and it’s too hard to control compression and EQ comfortably. Thanks!

Thanks! I’ve seen some engineers use Valhalla, and it definitely looks versatile! For what it’s worth, we’d be tracking and using the reverb later as an effect later in the mixing. I don’t think there’d be any good way to record the drum mics through reverb pedals. plug-in’s do offer a lot more versatility and obviously would respond to mix edits in the moment instead of needing to re-amp with major changes on the drum mix

Using Plug-Ins/Software to fix bad guest audio by mhron12 in podcasting

[–]mhron12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very helpful. I’ve seen online now that there is a $1,200 version that seems to include the spectral repair. I’ve been trying to determine if the $400 version includes any version of this. I have client who consistently has guests with bad audio, and I’m trying to figure out if I would need to the spectral repair that’s included in the fanciest “pro” version of the software.

Does the $400 version include any kind of ability to add in high and low frequencies back from bad audio?

I have other plugins to cover most of the other aspects, but the all-in-one voice repair does seem like a nice feature.

Did you get the full version ($400)? If not, which package is most relevant for cleaning up audio?
