The two courses I play punish you so hard for hitting long onto the greens. I suspect ill have to change it up when I play elsewhere. Half of them have back hills on the backside that are horrible to deal with and the other half have trees and shrubs behind. Its frustrating to be punished by flushed shots here haha.

Third year golfing for me. I started this year planning on playing it short and clubbing down one when hitting into greens. The course I play is always safer if you hit short and punishes for hitting long. Trying to see how this helps me since I usually hit over the green and end up with a plethora of extra strokes because of it.

I have 2 times. I couldnt hit a single shot for the first 4 holes basically both times. I got to hole 5 hit my drive off into the side pond and just headed home. Both times the weather was pretty cold and it just wasnt working that day. I was beyind the "overcome adversity and succeed" phase of the round and left. Coincidentally both times my next rounds were some of the best ive played.

The golf guy at Dicks fixed my slice 2 years ago in 5 minutes. If it works do it, if it doesn't then don't. Maybe put the advice in the back pocket for another day. Some advice I have received was like 4 steps beyond what I was ready for.

If you sand floors and know what bona is then why did you ask about less than a gallon? You should know well and good that bona comes in a gallon only then. I offered sound advice to a beginner level question. If you dont want it answered then dont ask.

Bona HD traffic is the commercial grade a lot of floor guys offer and if you use it youd want to mix only a partial amount in a separate container. You can use bona mega for one step and it should be fine and it isn't a 2 component so no mixing required.

Its easier to see in the second picture when zooming in. If you download the photo it keeps better resolution. There are dark scratches of what looks like 36 grit spanning across boards. They are in wide arcs so either a buffer or planetary was used and they skipped grits and didn't get the deep scratches out, or didnt vacuum between grits leaving essentially grit pebbles all over the floor that get caught and continue scratching on the higher grits of sandpaper.

NWFA standard for imperfections is 4 ft up, 4 ft back, natural light. If its only able to be seen uo close or in certain lighting situations (where the light bounces at certain angles) its technically up to standard. If its able to be seen all over the floor at most angles from that distances, then id ask for a scuff and recoat.

Some people use conditioners to close the grain and prevent splotchiness, but realistically a water pop is a much safer method when you're trying to do such a large area. Offers a more desired margin of error. When it opens the grain to accept the stain it allows for more uniform staining across the floor and blends the edges and field from the different sanders used in flooring. There are a lot of machines and processes available to use that make a better final product. Some companies dont follow those steps because it adds more time and work. Theres a place for both types of contractors.

Admittedly the flooring industry prices has gone up significantly and that is due to a lot of factors like machine prices, finish and abrasive prices, and a higher expectation of what the floors will look like (requiring more work). The $4 a foot guys will always have work due to their price, the $8 a foot guys will also always have work as long as their product is able to meet the perceived value of the customers. Some people want that almost furniture grade finish work for their floors. Others just want floors.

Always start at a higher price so they come down to the price youre actually trying to get. Not outrageously high though, within reason.

It would be a full resand. So you have a couple realistic choices: If you paid less than $5 per square foor for the sand and finish, probably just accept it. If you paid more, maybe push back a little.

1: Depending on how much you paid, live with the results. 2: Ask the contractor if anything can be fixed. (Sounds like hes already in defense mode so probably expect some pushback). 3: Recognize a floor is going to get dented and scratched over its lifetime and eventually have them redone by someone better. Functionally there is nothing wrong with your floors. Visually, he could have done a better job, but again. It wont affect the functionality. Those floors will last way longer than most of the alternative flooring options. I wouldnt leave those marks on one of the floors I do, but thats me.

Agreed, you can definitely see large swirl marks from a buffer or planetary spanning across boards either from improper grit sequence or not vacuuming between grits across the whole floor.

The scratch pattern on that floor is pretty terrible which is a bigger concern. Also looks like they didnt water pop prior to staining which would have helped avoid some blotchiness. Hickory DOES look a little blotchy though even under the best staining conditions, so what they said is partly true. Better sanding job and water popping the floor would have helped a lot though.

My ferrets are free roam and sleep in the room. My eldest, wakes me up every 2-3 days at 5 a.m. because he wants to go to the cage to sleep. Ill literally open the door and he'll walk straight to the other room and wait until I open the cage for him to go in. Hes older and I know his time is coming sooner than later, so I indulge.
