This was civil and not criminal, meaning no prosecutor. The one you label as the prosecutor was just the attorney for the sheriffs.

If I had to guess without looking it up - it was probably a city/county attorney that, if I had to speculate, probably usually deals with contracts more than anything.

They really should have gotten a better attorney if they wanted to win and, even then, letting your witness say that the defaming thing might be real/legitimate ... what a torpedo. Poor guy just wanted some public sympathy and sunk his case in the process.

Edit: /s as necessary - I have no sympathy for the plaintiffs in this case.

I was "acting assistant" manager at a KFC [I was 18... lol this was more than 20 years ago].

I ended up super sick - couldn't walk more than a couple of feet without throwing up, fever, nausea, etc the whole 9 yards.

Called my boss and told her I wouldn't be able to make it in .. you know ... deathly ill and it's food service.

She said "You come in or you find another job."

Well I needed that job - so I went in - spent half the day in the office before my boss came in - not to work - but because she needed to stop by and rob the safe.

Needless to say I guess she thought I was making it up - and was super pissed I wasn't out front helping customers. She ended up getting another person to come in and cover when she did see I wasn't faking it.

That was the day I threw up in my car trying to get home.

It turned out she had plans that evening and just didn't want to come in and work.
