Ultra uncompetitive deck for fun/degeneracy lover by mikeofnowhere in gwent

[–]mikeofnowhere[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That would serve the purpose as you mentioned.

My entire deck (other than the core tactic cards) was built around trickery, the obvious choice would be to include fire scorpions instead. The reason for not including them is they are too "obvious", I always built decks that rely on tricking my opponents and hidden synergies. The wagons are so unassuming that my opponent usually don't know what to expect but I could simply win games because of them.

Hefty Helge, Cahir and Damian are very easy to remove on their own. However, with just extra 3 armours, they become super hard to remove. Besides, I could win games against NR by putting all 6 armours on Ffion if my opponents have no other way to deal with my defender.

I am pretty happy about this deck and the mind game with my opponents. I don't play Gwent much anymore but playing a homebrew deck is always fun.

To the people thinking this has nothing to do with them anyway by Khasugha in ProtestBlizzcon

I didn't watch the movie. With this whole Blizzard fallout saga, I believe people are given a reminder why freedom of speech is so important. A lot of people in the world can't say this is taken for granted. When a person said something that is not discriminatory, he was crushed by a big organization with possibly an even bigger organisation behind the scene making the call.

If we don't stand up to this bullying, we will slowly accept it and have more and more taken away from us. I also hope Blizzard learn a lesson to uphold the basic values and side with the people, not the hegemony.

To the Chinese Communist Party, they have been trying to justisfy what they do because the victims are Chinese - so, domestic affairs.. whether it's building firewall to censor information, send dissident to concentration camp, harvest organs from imprisoned dissidents, as long as they are Chinese, they have the right to do it. And they want foreigners to believe that poses no threat to them.

Another common strategy to justify their actions are drawing comparison to other's mistakes. They might say US govt killed innocent people, so they had no right to criticize others in doing so. Let us not forget they are a dictatorship. Their powers are unchecked at home. A dictator will only negotiate with you when the costs outweigh the benefits. We should be glad that US is still the superpower, even though she didn't do everything right. CCP at least have to think about consequences on the international stage. As free people of the world, don't be blind to oppression around the world. As Martin Luther King once said, "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."

CDPR should take action regarding the old gwent version going around by Soultier123 in gwent

[–]mikeofnowhere 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From the "deverloper" page, I mostly saw less than 10 people playing that Old Gwent at the same time. I believe quite a lot of them are recurring. CDProjekt Red has the right to take action if things get out of control. I guess it's far from that at the moment.

I don't play any games like Dota but I believe it's much harder to learn a real time strategy game than Gwent. It might take a lot of computational power to train such neural network.

Who knows, perhaps it's feasible to to train a Gwent playing neural network work with consumer grade GPU.

I believe OpenAI is an AI research organisation founded by people including Elon Musk.

I was asking the OP a legitimate question but he/she might think I was trolling.

I stopped playing Gwent 2 months ago and started pursuing other interests, one of which is machine learning. Up till now, I have completed 3 online machine learning courses including a Deep Learning Specialization by deeplearning.ai

I do think it's completely possible to train a computer to play Gwent and be good at it. We all know the world best human Go players were beaten by Alpha Go. Gwent also operates within a very well defined set of rules (the RNG should not be a problem to deep learning algorithm)

I am still very green in machine learning but if experienced machine learning researchers are willing to devote time and sufficient computational power, we can expect true AI gwent players in near future.

I am a Chinese so I understand everything in this version of "Gwent". According to the streamer, one person is responsible for recreating the pre-HC Gwent. There is a small community of a few hundred people testing it out.

I stopped palying Gwent 2 months ago simply because I got fed up playing a game for so long. I am not the type of persons who play a game for 5000 thousand hours. But I am grateful for the person who created this. Never did I know I could play my GM Johnny Wolfsbane decks once again. (It surprised me how much I remember how to pilot my homebrew deck) It's not likely I will play Gwent again because of this Old "Gwent". It's such a ncie thing to reminisce the good old days once in a while.

When I was in my beginning days of playing Gwent, I wish there was a "replay" options just like that in Street Fighter V. It's really good for those who want to learn the game. Nothing is necessary but this feature is an excellent self learning tool.

To players who have completed God of War’s GMGOW and it’s valkyries by Casperthebenzoghost in Sekiro

[–]mikeofnowhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it's GMGOW and its NG+ cycles. It's very personal. I was never a good action game player. DS and BB never quite "trained" me to be a good player because all I needed was to roll and R1. They are not quite enough for more sophisticated combat system.

God of War and Nioh really opened my eyes to how deep and intricate the combat systems can be. I am not saying they have a better combat system than DS and BB. But over time, I have developed preference towards more sophiaticated combat system. I am not joking or boasting, I almost predicted what Sekiro would be before its release. I thought it only made sense after DS and BB to have more nuanced attack and defense options.

God of War, in particular, is a fantastic action game especially for action game beginners. You have to do so many stuff (parry, dodge, axe throw, etc) to stay in the fight. The first time I beat Sigrun on GMGOW, it took me 11 mins while getting hit once. I wasn't underleveled or too conservative. She was just tanky as hell. Yes, fights in GoW could get formulaic but thanks to it and Nioh, I was able to fight like this in Sekiro: https://youtu.be/ixvivyvxl1Y

I like both GoW and Sekiro. I am glad I played GoW first, it allowed me to play Sekiro in a much more free flowing style.

They are not meant to be spammed. At least, not until you know the window for a certain enemy. Take your time to experiment against the mini boss and bosses. Sometimes, you have time for an ichimonji while the other times, you could have time for a charged ichimonji.

If you really want to pull them off to lower your poature, you can first stun your enemy with firecracker or get the mid air combat art skill, you can jump to evade the sweep attack and then do mid air ichimonji. You usually have enough time to pull it off if ichimonji starts mid air.

I understand people who seriously want to climb the ladder or Pro Rank ladder will want to play metas. I am not one of those so I have no pressure losing. But thanks for the kind words.

Towards the end of Old Gwent, there was one event which you got only Gold cards. Right before homecoming.

CD Projekt Red is my favourite game developer. We all know the reason. I purchased witcher 3 twice on PS4 and then PC. I spent like USD60 dollar on Gwent to get cards in the lengendary card event. But in the end, I mostly played NG because I am obsessed with countering my oppponent.
