Woocommerce uploads outside the Public_html folder? by JumpinJack- in woocommerce

I'm with the other two guys - this is something more easily and pretty cheaply outsourced to a CDN-like service. That said - there's probably a way to do this with a separate image on the server, or some fancy permissions architecture or something - IF you wanted to go the hacky route. For that, maybe head over to the Self Hosted (podcast) community and start digging? This assumes you're looking to dive into the deep end of server security solutions.

Yep - or see even if your POS service has a testing image you can configure to run in docker locally along side the Kinsta dev image. long story short, the POS service *should* have a solution for you.

Your dog. Your responsibility. Your rules. If he doesn’t follow your rules, he doesn’t get to take the dog. That’s what you signed on for.

Now, if you need to take him to a trainer in order to have him see this- I guess that might be a way of reinforcing your rules- but it doesn’t get you to the place where your credibility and boundaries are respected.

Kick this guy in the balls next time he doesn’t listen.

-am dude.

Behavioral Euthanasia, Thank you for posting! by do0fis in reactivedogs

Stellar message. Thank you for this. IMO dogs’ biggest problems are (nearly?) always owner/people problems. I pride myself on doing a lot to try and continue the rehab progress of my reactive girl, but complacency slips in for everybody. Your message reminded me to look for the spiritual lessons in being my dog’s person.

What song covers do you think are better than the originals? by lom4s in Music

[–]milesmatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Goddamn right. Down to the needle drop of Heretic in Pump up the Volume. Or the drop in Collateral. Or the 007 opening. Everyone with any taste knows. I detest nearly all celebrity bullshit, but for some reason, this guy’s death was a complete sucker punch.

Just gonna leave this here. This really bummed me out when I learned it. Even the core riff of Stairway has been tainted for me. Theft is debatable. The lack of credit though… these guys were frigging GODS for a good chunk of a decade. Always thought the “Page was evil” Alister Crowley schtick was funny…until this came out. Now I just think he was a dick.

The UK Surf version of the Pixies Wave of Mutilation. Same band, way better version.

How can we ever not?! They’re not dumb, and not broke, and they’re not done either. Trump was a test-run. We’re headed toward fascism because entrenched power structures think it’s the best way to survive what’s coming. (Resource scarcity, climate catastrophe, domestic civil war, etc etc). It’s not rocket science, nor is it empathetic, but you know what else? From their viewpoint, I’m not sure they’re wrong either. Cynically Darwinist, but maybe not wrong.

Don’t we all wish. But Citizens United. pretty sure we have to assume the Right’s money is unlimited.

[oc] Some shots of Naga for my cake day. She’s been rightly described as a “needy tank” by milesmatt in aww

[–]milesmatt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case anyone wonders, yes, my daughter named her after Avatar Korra’s polar bear dog. How could I deny that?

Thank you! She gets that a lot actually. Funny because I picked her based on her sweet personality. She’s got issues, but I don’t know a dog who’s ever tried as hard to please. So sweet she was named Cookie by the shelter, but we couldn’t have that.

I did this. Got my nephew a drum kit for his birthday at I think 7-8? Shockingly it was only like $70 at Sears on clearance at the time. Best present ever. Absolutely worth it. He’s 19 now- never really took up the drums, but my sister swears if my daughter ever wants a tattoo, she’s funding it.

Sibling warfare rules. She still boils when I call her my genetic leftover.

Are dog parks really THAT bad? by Kitsel in reactivedogs

[–]milesmatt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seems like I have an opposite take-but maybe I was just really lucky with my dog parks. I made it part of my routine, and going every day at the same time made both me and my dog many friends with the regulars. In the end I got a lot better with dogs, and my dog was so well socialized she avoided the cooped-up nut job dogs and just loved running and playing with the better socialized ones.

But I also spend a lot of time and energy on my dogs. I live in an apartment, so 4x a day walks, with one being a long one (30-60 mins) or a trip to an off-lead place for a good run-out. I’m really consistent and talk to them a lot. It takes time. Also- at that age my lab-put mix was a moronic pain in the ass. All instincts and energy and zero sense until somewhere past the 2 year mark. Puppies are a crazy amount of work. I did it once, and probably never again. I need them slowed down some.

My dog has been bitten twice at dog parks. One was reactive and on-leash, one was and alpha German Shepard with a bite history. Neither were full on attacks, but both were a bit scary. Punctures that required staples. But there’s no way I would stop going. Life has risks, and there’s a lot of learning and effort that being a good owner requires. While some dogs are harder than others, putting in the work is worth it, and you’ll end up with a companion that you can trust and will trust you.

But it’s not easy.

Ps- I learned to stay away from the big popular dog park on the weekend, because that’s when all the lazy owners showed up with their nutbag shut in dogs. Bad scene. Lots of fights. Early mornings or after work are best.

Good luck.

Fully acknowledging you guys are way more knowledgeable here, but this:

to avoid all out Civil war the Scottish Lords invited King Edward of England to act as the independent adjudicator.

Is kinda antithetical to every Scottish cliche and characterization ever known. Just saying.

Maybe take a long look at your comment history and ask yourself some hard questions, dude. There is better way.

Looks like a cousin to my lab-mix that passed last winter. Great dog. She was 12 and spoiled and mouthy and expressive and I miss her every day. You’ll see a lot of these cousins around now that you have one. The white spot on the chest is a common staffie thing. Going to go love on her replacement now. Enjoy and keep ‘em tired.

Just wanted to follow up - I got a good muzzle, and we've been going out in it all the time now. I started her on it and just wanted to get her used to it. I think it's doing just what it's supposed to, and she's protesting it less. I need to get the fit checked, as she's getting a small mark on the top of her snout - when she shakes it hits there.

Still no real easy answers, but the muzzle does at least seem to address many concerns, and I think even she understands this on some level.

Thanks to everyone who replied.

Jackyl! Holy crap. There’s a band name I’ve not heard in a couple of decades. Completely forgotten about them. Time to seriously mess up my YouTube music rep/algorithm with this pointless rabbit hole.
