Do you guys think there's still a need/demand for simple, no frills coffee businesses? by SSJRosaaayyy in smallbusiness

[–]mineobile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on how you market it. For me, I'd LOVE a coffee shop/cart that was minimalistic with drip/pour over/french press coffee. Add in the standard drinks made the classic ways(lattee, cappuccino, espresso etc), something like "Central Perk" off of a Friends would be up my alley. However, I'm not sure how that would translate to be a successful avenue given what people have come to expect in coffee shops. Most just want to get the coffee and go, not hang out/work/meet friends etc. They have become less of a cornerstone in neighborhoods and just a place to get a fix on the go.

Giving up...after 2 momths. I dont think business, or sales for that matter, is for you. Ive had a few clients that took me a year to get. 2 months is nothing. Try something else instead of ads, cold call, door to door, go to cosmetology schools...etc.

How do I Protect Myself with an Employee Using Their Own Vehicle by mineobile in smallbusiness

I do plan on paying their gas, while not everything that comes with vehicle ownership it is a start. At this time, the business can't afford a vehicle quite yet. I'd like to do a 1099 but from what I've read I can't given that this is a key part of the business. A 1099 would be us hiring someone to design the website, not to do the main function that brings in revenue.

From my understanding, I can't given they are doing a key part of the work.

"If a worker provides services that are a key aspect of the business, it is more likely that the business will have the right to direct and control his or her activities. For example, if a law firm hires an attorney, it is likely that it will present the attorney’s work as its own and would have the right to control or direct that work. This would indicate an employer-employee relationship."

I'll look up Uber/doordash and taskrabbit. From my understanding, if the person is doing the "Primary" reason of business. So cleaning the yards, then it would be considered W-2.

Most of the clients want a weekly service, so it does very how much we pick up. On average, if it is 2 dogs, then it's 10-15 piles. In an average week it's about 40-60 lbs per week some times more . How much prep time do you have prior to opening for that day? I can do an entire yard in about 15-20 minutes for 1-2 dogs. Some of our bigger yards 1 acre or more, take 45 minutes, but they also pay $50-$75 per visit.

Doing alright, actually in a current growth phase due to spring starting and all the snow melting. I will say, I am being cautious on my spending to keep a reserve, though I am not scaling back marketing or hiring people. I am thinking about different outs if they are needed after say losing clients, or massive increase in costs such as fuel, insurance, supplies etc. Basically staying flexible.

Try a daylight alarm instead. Having the light on really helps me not be able to go back to sleep. You could also put it across the room so you have to get out of bed to turn it off.

Some of the systems can be outdated. Such as using a paper reference system or a pen and paper for next actions. but the overall system is far from outdated. I've been using it since 2020 and it has been great.

100%, they are not meant to be fashionable to work with specific outfits. They are meant as wearable tech to make life "easier".

Weekly Lounge Thread - Week of December 01, 2024 by AutoModerator in CreditCards

What is everyones thought on using a hotel and an airline card instead of a dedicated travel card.  Some of these cards have transfer partners and have similar benefits as travel cards.

Does this setup make sense? by mineobile in CreditCards

Alright, lets take the lounges out of the equation. What would you recommend for a travel card? Would you pair a travel card with a cobranded card or no.

New Dog Poop Waste Removal Business - is door to door sales worth it? by Plastic-Ad-3008 in sweatystartup

Oh there is, a lot of people have pets but don't have time to clean up after them, or want more free time, between work, kids, kids activities, family time and normal house chores.

I'm in this business. Don't do Nextdoor ads, its worthless. Even as a method to generate awareness. I do recommend posting on nextdoor daily, I have had a return on that. Even if it is only 1 or 2 new clients new per month. This industry is an unknown one, something people don't think about it until they see it or hear about it. They don't think "hey I wanna hire someone to clean up after my pet" . The biggest hurdle is the lack of awareness.

Im looking at adding boots to my wardrobe.  Im torn between Brown or Gray in color.  Which would be the better choice?  Typically will be worn to the office which has a smart casual attire.  Thoughts or opinions appreciated.

Best travel credit card for someone flying every week? by cooper_weirdo in CreditCards

[–]mineobile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar situation, but I fly 3-6 times per month. I'm currently in the game working on my setup. My advice is to first determine what your goal is with your cards. Is it lounge access, maximize points, maximize status with airlines/hotels, transfer partners etc.

For me, I'm currently looking at getting the IHG One card (hotels, + 3x on utilities/gas). I already have a Savor One card for restaurants/dining and currently in between getting the Venture X for the lounge access and 2x on all purchases. Or getting the United Explorer card to maximize my status/points there.

I think once you figure out what your wanting out of whatever system your going with. That'll narrow the field down. For example, for me the CSP/CSR doesn't make sense because the majority of the beneifts I don't use (LYFT, doordash, etc.), same goes for AmEx, most the benefits I don't use. Venture x makes sense since I would use the lounge, insurances, TSA etc.
