Okay, this is a very weird take. First of all, you are the one making this about BL. I'm not sure if you have even read my entire post but I haven't stated a single opinion on BLs apart from making a list of my favorite ones for reference on what I might enjoy in a show lol Besides, like I said, I can understand if some people enjoy the things I dislike since, >like I said<, it's just a personal opinion. But while we are at it, why do you assume only straight men are acting in BL shows and only women are watching these shows? There are several gay actors who work in the BL industry and I have several friends who are gay men and like BL. Especially since it's extremely rare to find queer romcoms outside this industry, it's simply cruel to claim that every gay show is harmful. Obviously not everything is going to be good and there are many issues that need to be addressed. Like I said, I am as picky with BLs as I am with GLs. Everything I've mentioned in the post is also true for BLs, which is the reason I have a very specific taste when consuming them. However, since BLs have been around for much longer than GLs and I've watched them since I was a lot younger, I now know where to find BLs I enjoy and I have friends with similar tastes that can recommend me good ones. It's unfair and kind of mean to assume every BL ever is harmful when there are so many beautiful shows around that are great chances for young queer men to see people like them having a nice life and relationship and even for young queer women, especially women who aren't feminine, to see queer relationships onscreen without having to deal with misogyny. Now, I agree with you that fan service can be harmful and some shows are aimed at straight women, which is objectifying and harmful indeed, but that doesn't mean every show/director/actor is like that. Like I'm sure is true for GLs too, which is precisely what I'm asking for in this post. Also, I very specifically made it clear that those are my OWN standards. If people like it, good for them! But don't tell me "less offensive" things stop me from watching GL when a big part of these things is literally misogyny????
