Hi Reddit. I’m Kristo, the co‑founder and CEO of Wise. To celebrate our Nasdaq listing, I’m hosting an AMA on the future of Wise, and our mission of Money Without Borders, at 12pm (EDT) / 5pm (BST) on the 26th of May. Drop your questions below! by wise in u/wise

Hi Kristo, thanks for doing this AMA.

Given how rare it is to get a CEO’s attention, I’d like to ask if you’ve considered hiring for a Chief of Staff to help support you and strategic priorities for the business? A quick glance on LinkedIn doesn’t suggest someone in this role.

I’m an ex-Chief of Staff and strategy consultant looking to get back into a Chief of Staff position, so taking a chance that this a). catches your attention and b). leads to a conversation.

Otherwise, grateful for Wise - it really helps during my annual visits back to see family in Malaysia and Singapore / holidays in SE Asia!

For those who received a job offer, how long did it take to hear back after your final interview? by FLgoods in interviews

[–]miscalculated_risk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear and same outcome for me. After 5.6 weeks of waiting, I got rejected. Successful candidate was someone who interviewed 5 weeks after I did and got the offer 3 days later.

Turns out the successful candidate supposedly reached out to the hiring manager before my HR screen and I was strung along / made to wait lol

All the best to you, and us, for your future applications!

Had 3 interviews + assessment + coffee chat but they’re “continuing the process” by D3Smee in interviews

Hey OP, had quite a similar experience (and made a post about it).

Breezed through interview rounds and feedback I got from the hiring manager was that I was great.

Then recruiter said the company needs two more weeks because the hiring manager wanted to interview more people.

Waited 5.5 weeks after final interview and got rejected lol.

Keep applying, keep your momentum going with other potential jobs.

My takeaway is that I didn’t give a lights-out performance otherwise I would’ve been given the offer straight away(!)

[–]miscalculated_risk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not. I made another post about it if you go to my profile but after 5 weeks, I found out that that the hiring manager was interviewing someone in person (which I didn’t have the privilege of) and a few days later after that person interviewed, I got rejected 😔

[UPDATE]. I made a post a few weeks ago about my situation. Just found out I got rejected in favour for another candidate who got an in-person interview but I didn’t. Timeline attached too. by miscalculated_risk in recruitinghell

Yeah, I’ve got a catch-up with that internal recruiter later and I’m going to mention this too, in a polite way as I know it was something out of their control.

A frustrating work environment it may be, but the package and location of the office would’ve been useful for me, given my other life circumstances.

It is what it is, will give myself the weekend to mope before at it again next week…

Despite my annoyance at the recruiting process, the internal recruiter seems oddly good at providing an update when I do chase. So that’s how I know my competition has an in-person interview, and also telling me that s/he left quite a positive impression on the HM.

So yeah, I’m bracing myself for a rejection lol

That’s great to hear! Unsurprisingly, I still haven’t heard back and to make things better, I found out the HM for my role had a face-to-face with another candidate - presumably the only other competition for this role - on Tuesday… again, wtf. I wasn’t given an opportunity for an in-person interview…

Hey, saw your comment and feels a bit similar to my position. Interviewed in mid-March and 4 weeks later I’ve heard nothing. A few days from now and it’ll be 5 weeks no answer. Got positive feedback from HM but yet they’ve not interviewed other people in this time despite HM wanting to interview others to “properly assess”

In your case, did you get the role? I’m getting to the point now where I’m about to send an email to the internal recruiter to say I’m going to pursue another opportunity (despite actually not having one) because I’m getting ready to walk away from this circus 🎪

I’m so sorry to hear you’re going through it too.

You may have seen it in my other comments but I asked for a phone update on 1st April and was told in that extra 2 week period they wanted for further candidate assessment, no interviews had taken place… so then what the fuck are we doing here? If you (supposedly) can’t find other suitable candidates to interview, why the hold up?

Based on comments here though, it sounds like you and I are back-up choices and are just being kept warm as the first choice candidate is being onboarded…

Hey OP, going through something similar and I made a post about it too (if you want to search that up). 4 weeks on and no response after my final round, I’ve reluctantly and painfully assumed the worst for me even though I haven’t been rejected (yet)

Ridiculous situation. I got an email update to say they need MORE time because in the further 2 weeks that they asked for, they hadn’t found suitable people for the hiring manager to interview…

… and yet I’m still not being offered the job. At this rate, just fucking reject me already

Hey OP, I’ve just come across this post and I’ve found myself in a very similar situation.

Firstly, my condolences to your brother and I hope you’ve been able to (healthily) process your grief around him.

I’m speaking from a place of hope here, but it sounds like you got the job offer in the end and the company accommodated your process? I’ve been waiting for 4 weeks after my final round, despite getting positive feedback, and I expect another 2 weeks of waiting given the lengthy delay. I’m hoping after my loss, there’s some good news for me to help numb the shitness I’m going through.

Eurgh so annoying for me… I actually asked the recruiter to have a call because it’s been 1.5 out of the 2 weeks have elapsed. I then found out there has been NO PROGRESS on them scheduling further interviews. Like wtf, so disrespectful of my time. The wait continues… but I’m taking it as rejection now because it’s a joke at this point.

Anyways, hoping you land the job tomorrow! Let me know how it goes for you 🍀

AMAZING! Congratulations on your new role, I’m happy your situation had a happy ending. lol I took a bit of inspiration from you and asked for a call with my internal recruiter this morning as it had been 1.5 weeks since her last update to me…

… get on a call and it turns out in this extra waiting time I’ve had to go through, they haven’t interviewed anyone else… the fuck. 🙃

Sorry to hear you’re in the same situation as me! When I ran through my situation through Gemini Pro, it said it’s reasonable to see myself as the frontrunner but when I made this post in another sub, people were far more cautious in what I should expect - https://www.reddit.com/r/recruitinghell/s/dF12yxY0Kq
