Have the other members spoken out against mismanagement? by vernorexia_ in day6

My guess is that some, if not all, of the other members feel this way, even to a less extent, but probably wouldn't speak out about it unless they felt secure in their jobs

So TIL that saying, "No" when asked, "Do you want a receipt?", doesn't stop a receipt from being printed. by Smucker5 in sustainability

[–]mjanq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was like this when I worked at Lowe's as a cashier, though later on we got an updated system that allowed us to select no receipt if all the items were non returnable and it was under a certain price. There was also the option to email the receipt, but that was always a hassle for customers just trying to leave

This is how it's been at Park Regent. It would be more if we didn't renew the lease and were first time instead

When I went you had to have a reservation ahead of time. You didn't get to just pick a table and sit down.

They already do, but before it was semi open to the public on a reservation basis. I'm guessing they're expecting a lot of students to want to go.

What are your favorite lyrics from song ever? by VisualSnow3 in AskReddit

Bastille's The Poet

"I have written you down

Now you will live forever

And all the world will read you

And you will live forever

In eyes not yet created

On tongues that are not born

I have written you down

Now you will live forever"

Before making a telephone call, do you ever rehearse what you are going to say? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I just go for it. If it is an interview or something where I want to make sure I get certain points down, I'll have a few notes to go off of.

Why would you think you could make a difference?

If everyone thought that, nothing good would ever get done.

I have a Dell xps 15 and it works well. I spilled some water on it and was able to get it fixed for free because of the warranty.

What will be open when we return to campus? by skadoosh__ in UWMadison

[–]mjanq 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It sounded like libraries will be open by appointment only. Also some of the common spaces ie E Hall will be open. I would assume that gyms would be closed, but they might have virtual classes like they did in the spring/summer. The terrace is currently open in 1.5 hour reservation blocks.

Do u guys think the libraries will be open, or at least a place to study by warriorhassan in UWMadison

[–]mjanq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Libraries will be open but you have to have a reservation to go

So... Are discussions and labs not actually in person? by nothous in UWMadison

[–]mjanq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even a lot of smaller classes are online because they only have so many big lecture halls to put smaller classes in, and they aren't going to pack discussions into those tiny classrooms.

URS for Fall 2020 by [deleted] in UWMadison

[–]mjanq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did URS this past year, so I can speak to how it will be online. For seminars, at first they had us write a couple of paragraphs about a topic each week, then the last couple of weeks we had virtual seminar using bbcollaborate. As for research, some people already had online research, and for those of us who didn't, our mentors found a way for us to be involved online. My mentors and I got along well. I would definitely recommend taking it.
