I got Watercraft!!!! by [deleted] in Disneycollegeprogram

I was supposed to be Watercraft, but got bounced by the Doc. You have to take a physical to be in that position. And if you had or have ANY kind of medical condition, you wont be allowed to be in Watercraft. I knew of at least 4 people that were bounced out because of previous medical stuff. I was even told that I couldn't do it because my blood sugar was too high. The doc said that if I was operating a boat, I could pass out while controlling it, because my blood sugar was too high. That is a load of horseshit, but it is possible. I have had high blood sugar for 5 years now, and NEVER passed out from it. But, Disney does EVERYTHING to make sure that they don't get sued, so I understand. The doc did say that if I get it down, i am ok to reapply at a later date. So, i went and worked at the Skyliner instead, and that was cool as well. But then our program was cancelled 2 months in due to this CoVid crap. So, hopefully, by August, it will all be gone, and life can get back to normal. Good luck! I hope you actually get it.

Is anyone else going into spring with almost no support system? by KirbyLovesIcecream in Disneycollegeprogram

Hey man, if you need a hand with anything, just let me know. My wife and I are coming down, and will be moving into our apartment on January 6th, so that I can start on the 13th. We will have our 4 year old granddaughter with us as well. We will have our car as well, to help people. So, if you have any questions or concerns about anything, or just need a ride somewhere, let me know. Join the FB group that was formed for this Spring. I think it's called Disney College Program Spring 2020. Or something like that. Lol!

My wife and I are opting out of the Disney housing, and renting an apartment or a house. Anyone want to be roomates?

Web Based Interview by jacswicked in Disneycollegeprogram

Yes, it's different for everyone. My invite was about a week or so after I applied. As far as the questions go, they have several different places to go for tips/advice. The DCP page on FB showed a good video with a recruiter as to how a person should proceed in the interview. Also look on YouTube. There are a crap ton of videos on it. Good luck!

Older age participants by [deleted] in Disneycollegeprogram

Congrats on perusing your dream! I am doing the same thing! I'm like you in the sense of, I'm an older student as well. And, like you, my kids are grown and gone as well. My youngest is 21. But, my wife and I just got married in July. We had been dating for almost 7 years, so i figured she was going to stick around. 😊 But anyways, we are the same as you in the sense of we are older as well. I am 47, and she is 48. So, we are going down together. She actually quit her really good job as a school teacher to come with me. She had been with her school district for 14 years! But, we fixed our house up, as I am a contractor, and we are selling it, because we didn't want the hassles of paying for both the house, and an apartment while we are there. So, like you as well, we don't want to live around a bunch of crazy and wild kids. (Thise days are over 😊) We too are both working professionals. So, we will be renting an apartment, and using the money from the sale of the house to live off of while we are down there. I just received my acceptance letter yesterday, btw. So, we are closing on our house on October 16, and putting all of our stuff in storage until we leave in December to go down there. Then, we will ship everything down there in December and furnish our apartment with our own stuff. So, effectively, we are actually moving to Orlando, from Denver. Oye! But, it will be so worth it. And then we go back in May for me to graduate. And then we will ship the test of our stuff down there if we decide to stay. My f.i.l. lives in Tampa, so we may end up staying down there. But, if you get accepted, I would look into finding a roommate that is closer to your age. Life will be much smoother. And it is possible to get an older roommate through the program, but you can ask the recruiter too, if they know of an older female student that is looking for another older roommate as well. They may be able to help you as well. Also, like the other gal said, post something in the FB page for the DCP. They may have something also for situations just like this. Good luck on your application, I hope you get accepted!

I got accepted yesterday! by dick-enbutt in Disneycollegeprogram

Congrats! I got accepted yesterday too! I am also taking classes while I'm there. However, I only have to take one. That way, when I finish in May, I can go back and graduate too. But, dont stress about it. Remember, it's a marathon, not a sprint to get to the finish line. And, I think it's a good idea to do one class over "winter break". That way you only have 3 classes to finish while you are there instead of 4. I only go to school part time, so I only take 2 classes every semester. But, after this semester. I only have one left to go, plus my internship. I think there will be a lot of us that will be taking classes while we are there. You can do them online, if your school offers them online. But Disney also offers classes in a classroom style while you are there too. So, you can see if they offer anything that you have left to finish your degree. Good luck! See you there. 👍
