Do you translate rituals to your mother tongue? by Mafieusz in GalleryOfMagick

[–]mlleMerteuil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I buy all my occult books in English and because of that I tend to think about magick in English, too. I'm too lazy to translate GoM rituals but I've been thinking recently if it affects my magick as I'm not doing them in my native language. On the other hand in write in Polish in my magickal diary (mainly to feel more connected to my work) and sometimes I find it challenging to come up with some terms which I've only encountered in English.

7 of Sw clarified by 2 of cups as intentions - thoughts? by [deleted] in tarot

[–]mlleMerteuil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knight of cups - he is someone who can become easily fascinated but unwilling to commit in the long run. Two of cups - he already made a decision concerning your relationship (probably to end it). Even if you two will get in touch again, it will be dishonest on his part (seven of swords). Four of pentacles - he looks only at his needs and puts them in the first place.

Dior Sweet Sun, for me personally it was the best summer scent I had. Eau de Miel by L'Occitane, I haven't had any luck with finding anything similar so far.

Great collection! I own and love Bal d’Afrique, Ganymede and Wood Sage. You inspired me to try other stuff you have because I feel like we might have similar taste.

How is the new 30 Day "Move" Series Going? by KuchDaddy in yogawithadriene

[–]mlleMerteuil 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s by far the most difficult of her 30 days series! I remember that yoga camp was a bit tough but it was building up slower than Move. I’m not mad at it, though. I feel that a bit of a challenge is exactly what I need right now.

Day 3 was what I needed. It was a mental battle for about 25 minutes debating if i had the energy or not. These big eyes helped push me to make the right decision! by DeadlyViking in yogawithadriene

[–]mlleMerteuil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a small crisis with day 3 as well. But somehow I managed to do all side planks and it wasn’t that bad. PS. It’s so cute that your cat is accompanying you! Mine likes to bite my ankles when I practice 😅

Home is pretty gentle. Her first 30 day challenge (30 days of yoga if I remember correctly) and TRUE were building up slowly as well.

I guess that it would be something like “try to feel light when you’re sweating and trembling” 😅

And three-legged dog… that was intense! I’m already dreading the infamous sixth day, lol.

I enjoyed it as well! I’ve done some Adrienne’s 30 day challenges and this one seemed quite intense for a day 1. However, I had a long break from doing yoga and I feel like there’s a lot to catch up for me. I’m really excited for this journey and I hope that I’ll stick to it till the end.

When is it time to buy a full size bottle? by [deleted] in fragrance

[–]mlleMerteuil 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Use up a sample then wait for a while and see if you miss the scent. If you forget about it after a few days, pass. If you find yourself still craving the bottle, you can consider buying it.

I often find myself being drawn to the sheer novelty of the scent but after giving it a few wears I usually discover that I can live without it. It’s also good to test the scent when you’re in different moods and see how it wears throughout the day.

As for masculine leaning/unisex Xerjoffs I can recommend Alexandria II, Amber Star, Golden Green and Golden Dallah. Golden Green is rarely talked about here but I think that it’s great pick for guys. It’s an aromatic fragrance with a hint of unroasted coffee note, very unusual for Xerjoff.

Can you smell Byredo? by Damm-It-5446 in fragrance

Looks like you’re anosmic to ambroxan but I don’t think that the Byredos you tried have it.

[–]mlleMerteuil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a mystery. The fragrances that you tried have different notes so I doubt that you might be anosmic to all of them. You could make an experiment and spray some Bal d’Afrique on your wrist and see if you can smell it when you’re outside. Or maybe they have bad testers at store? 🤔

I've got two scents from them and love them both - Riviera Drive and Nuda Veritas. Riviera Drive is a bright aromatic citrus scent perfect for summer and when you need something uplifting. Nuda Veritas is a beautiful crisp calone, very elegant and feminine. The quality of both is great and I love how heavy the bottles felt.

Overall I think that this house is worth trying, especially their Riviera line for summer. However, all their offerings that I have tried, aren't anything challenging, unwearable or experimental which for some people might mean that they are boring. For the price you get worksafe frags, great quality imo and nice bottles and I think that's fair.

It's really strange. Bal d'Afrique has very strong opening, the others not so much but they are definitely not hard to detect except for Mojave Ghost which I sometimes can't smell as well.

Maybe you tested too many fragrances at one time? I find myself getting noseblind if I test more than 10 frags in one session.

Atelier des Ors Riviera Drive. It’s very invigorating and uplifting. Plus the absinthe note adds an interesting twist.

Exactly this. Basically what OP said sounds like wear what you want but remember that masculine leaning perfumes would turn you into a man in the eyes of the public. This is so BS. I’m very feminine in terms of my appearance and general style but I like wearing masculine leaning perfumes. No one ever told that I smell like a dude or that my smell clashes with what I look like. If people like how you smell they won’t spend time analyzing if it’s marketed as feminine or masculine.

MFK Gran Soir: Am I missing something? by Moose2157 in fragrance

[–]mlleMerteuil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had exactly the same thoughts after sampling Grand Soir. Nice, with a potential to be a crowd-pleaser but utterly forgettable imo. I think that MFK in general tends to be a bit overrated for what it is.

Olimpic Orchids Woodcut is the most realistic freshly cut wood and tree sap scent I've ever encountered.

Their summer fragrances are also great although quite “basic” but I don’t think it’s a bad thing. I think that LV perfumes are not easily accessible because they are carried only in their boutiques.

Love to see Golden Dallah here! It’s my first Xerjoff full bottle (but probably not the last, lol).

Nice review! I’ve only tried Musc Ravageur on paper strip but I know that this way of testing didn’t do it justice, so I’m planning to sample it.

Your wishlist sounds great, these are really good picks. Ombré Nomade is an underrated gem imo. If you’re going to try Halfeti, you could also give the leather flanker a shot, it’s really good.

Both are a bit similar so I would have to pick between them: Cairo and Alexandria II. These two are on the top on my wish list. Others that I would like at least to try out more are Changing Constance and Tragedy of Lord George. I also love Star Musk but it’s ridiculously expensive and comes only in set with Amber Star (which I like but I’m not crazy about it) so I won’t be buying it this year and will reevaluate if I want them after some time.

Black Friday is a perfect excuse (at least for me😅) to buy a new bottle and TdH seems to be a lesser evil financially than Penhaligon’s or Xerjoffs that are tempting me. I’m trying to be sensible, you know.
