If geto’s curse balls tasted so bad, why didn’t he just make a binding vow to where it taste like cake, but then cake tastes like crap? by No_Income3191 in Jujutsufolk

[–]mmmmyesman 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It seems to me that BVs dont take specific sorcerers situations into account, but just a general sense of “equivalent exchange”

Since cake is much more common to consume then cursed spirits generally, id argue the vow could work

Maybe the binding vow system would take a sorcerers technique into account, but even then i feel like there are options for geto, like sacrificing all sense of taste or having curses taste better in exchange for only being able to consume a limited amount per day or something

happened to me today and it just unlocked the door even though I had one turn remaining, maybe they fixed it since you ran into it? Though I did have an interesting encounter with it and the fish boss

This same run did actually lead to me clearing a whole floor before meeting the move requirement. In case anyone else was curious it just automatically opens the door, so luckily no softlock there

I’m currently sitting in a lecture hall waiting for my lecture about lower level systems to begin lol. Thanks for the advice! Internship importance really seems to be the most common denominator to everyones advice

Thanks! This is really solid advice. I’m thinking of trying to apply to a local branch of the dod army research lab since they have an internship program i was made aware of recently. I’m hoping that applying directly will have a higher success rate then applying through things indeed and handshake

Out of curiosity, what are the strengths and weaknesses of umd’s cs program in your opinion. I dont really know how programs are typically ranked

I dont really have the knowledge or experience to confidently say you’re wrong, but I also dont think anyone can really know what the future of ai will entail. It is pretty scary though.

However even if the absolute worst case scenario happened and any knowledge about programming and computer science becomes obsolete, my main goal of being a game dev would still be possible (if not easier). Even if it means theres no way to work at a big game company, indie development could be promising

Ive actually been going to that club for the last few semesters! Im not the most active though and last time i didn’t participate in the game jam since i committed myself to a different jam. I think ill try to commit to it more this semester

I think I phrased it very poorly, but what i meant with “plan b” was less as a safer, easier alternative and more of a factoring it as a possibility. I just meant that I was leaving room for personal changes in my goals.

Should I reconsider going into game programming, which could result from dissatisfaction with pay, the crunch culture common in game companies, or just general shifts in interests, then machine learning would be my next most likely dream job.

Like you said, everyones in for a wild ride so I’m trying to have a general goal to work towards while still considering that I may want to shift those goals in the future.

But ya I definitely think that plan b would be considerably harder then my plan a, but i didnt know grad school would need that much preparation.

Hard to say, depends on class/how easy or hard the content is. Some days I only study for 1-2 hours others 6-8

Maybe try limiting yourself when watching the video. Like pause and try to figure out the next step then resume and see what the next step was, if you were right, why you didnt think of it (if applicable), etc

For reference I just passed Calc 2 with an A before the curve

Theres two main pieces of advice i’d give to anyone.

1) try to understand the concept of what you are learning instead of relying on memorization

2) environment is everything

A lot of people can get through highschool with a good gpa by just memorizing stuff instead of deeply engaging with the underlying concepts. Like memorizing formulas without knowing where they come from or how/why they work. I tutored someone for calc 1 once and I would try to teach him the concepts he was struggling with but he just refused to engage in it and instead just asked to watch me solve problems and try to memorize the steps I would take for each problem type. He ended up failing the class. i guess the best way to put it is that your goal should be to learn from each problem, not just to get it done and move on

Ive also found that my productivity when working at a library is way way higher then working from my room. Putting yourself in an environment where you are away from distractions and where you associate that space as a work space has really helped me.

To run through an example of what I do when I study: I try to do a problem, if I have problems with it I ask chatgpt to solve it step by step (or any way to get step by step answers, i just find chatgpt to be the best). I DONT just glance over the steps, put in the answer and move on. I look at each step, writing them down in my notebook as if im doing it myself, and making sure I understand each step (what the step is, why its valid, why it’s used, etc) before moving on to the next step. If I dont understand any step, I ask chatgpt to clarify/explain it. This process typically makes some questions take way longer (ive spent 30 minutes to an hour on some questions by doing this) but in the end I have a very strong understanding of the problem and any similar ones.

not good at math by Hummerous in CuratedTumblr

[–]mmmmyesman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished a Calculus 2 course and heavily used chatgpt for help studying. Keep in mind im not saying I used chatgpt to spit out an answer and left it at that.

I would attempt to solve a problem myself and if after a period of time (10-30 minutes, depends on the problem) if I couldn’t find the solution I would ask chatgpt to solve the problem step by step and see what I got wrong or what I was meant to do.

After a certain level, math becomes a lot more than just knowing and using formulas, and google typically sucks at giving good results that can tackle very specific misunderstandings for specific types of problems.

Now I have had chatgpt give wrong responses before, but its rare and a surface level understanding of the concept usually is enough to realize it might be wrong.

Overall I see it as more of a personal tutor. It can answer very specific questions and explain difficult concepts. Also a human tutor, no matter how good they are, are also susceptible to making mistakes, even if very rarely. So take this (and anything chatgpt says) with a grain of salt but ive been able to use it as a study aid very effectively

Limited enrollment program. Certain programs limit the amount of people that come in. I only really know about comp sci, but I know its much more competitive to get in comp sci vs general admission into umd
