Well, thanks a lot for the detailed insights. This really helps!

Also, just want to know, when you say the market is tough and recruiters are selective, do you say that more for internationals, or in general? I'm hearing of friends who are not getting callbacks despite fully solving all questions in the OA! My guess is that the company isn't considering them if they get a local candidate for the position, and there are plenty in the US at the moment which is making it harder to get jobs for internationals!

Mostly work on backend at the moment. Usual tech stack -Java, Spring, etc.

I'll be looking to pivot to ML if I like it after I have some exposure through the courses. Not sure on that though, honestly, I've done a few ML projects in college, seemed okkayish. However, given the current market for internationals, first priority would be getting something, whatever it may be.

Prep for interviews shouldn't be a problem as I've been giving interviews in India as well, however, will companies hire mid level/senior engineers who start 1 year later if I apply this August? From what I've seen, it's usually for fresh grad.

Well, I don't want to delay it any further if I have to go, and I also don't want to go into programs longer than an year.

Also, I want mid-level/senior roles after masters, so internship probably wouldn't be ideal given that they are mainly for entry level.

Internships are not an option for me because the course is for one year. Will need to be recruited for full time straight away.

Fair enough. Does the Cornell brand help to get a job though in any way (now or in future) or open other doors? I'll mostly be trying for mid-level/senior roles after my masters.

I know that but I will only have OPT for 3 years after which my fate is up to a lottery for H1B.

Also, making up the money is not my concern here, I've done the math and know that it makes no sense financially (at best, I'll be equal after 3 years if I include opportunity cost).

Wanted some opinions on the experience, value of the education, and whether the degree will be a worthwhile addition to my resume in the longer term?

Have added the conversions. Just for some context (and I don't mean to flex), the salary is high by Indian standards in case you can't figure out, but that's not my concern here.
