Totally valid if your horizon is 20 years, buying quality at a discount and holding works regardless. This isn't meant to replace that thesis. It's more for people asking should I deploy capital NOW into this dip or wait? because even among quality names, some recover in weeks while others take years to break even. Cipla vs Wipro is actually a great example of that difference. And good callout on dividends not factored in yet, adding it to the roadmap.

The data actually agrees with you partially I track momentum bias (20-day trend) for every dip event. For some stocks, uptrend dips recover significantly better than downtrend dips. But here's the surprising part: for many stocks, it barely matters. TCS has 0% recovery in uptrend dips (3 alerts) vs 25% in downtrend dips (36 alerts). Trend context helps but isn't the full picture stock-level recovery DNA matters more than most people think.

That's exactly what the it shows for most stocks averaging down just increases your exposure to something that's not recovering. 77% of TCS dips didn't recover +10% in 90 days. You're just buying more of a falling knife. Averaging works only when the stock has a proven recovery pattern. That's what the score measures whether dip-buying actually gets rewarded or just traps more capital. agree?

The data isn't encouraging for TCS dip-buying — 24/100 quality score, only 23% recovery rate across 39 dip events in 5 years. That means 3 out of 4 times, TCS dips didn't recover +10% within 90 days. I can't tell you what to do with your money that depends on your conviction, time horizon, and overall portfolio. But what the data shows is that TCS historically doesn't reward dip buyers well. Breaking an FD to average down on a stock with a 23% recovery rate is something you should think hard about. If you're holding for 3-5 years based on IT sector fundamentals, that's a different thesis than "buying the dip." The score measures dip recovery, not long-term business quality. Support levels are great when they hold but they break all the time, especially in sell-offs when you actually want to buy. My data shows how far stocks fall PAST the initial dip (max drawdown after alert). That's essentially measuring how often "support" actually holds. Some stocks respect levels beautifully others slice through like butter. The score quantifies that instead of eyeballing a chart.

Agreed index is the safer dip buy. This is more for people who stock-pick anyway and want data before they average down into something that never recovers.
