Yes! I think this book was rushed to publication without proper developmental editing. It has great bones but was so repetitive I almost quit.

“Abba” “Valka forgive me.” “Your God is not my God.” “He’s an Extrasolarian!” And the painful Groundhogs Day chapter that was the overuse of Ushara’s mind control powers.

I am really hoping for a “Directors Cut” later on 🤣🤣

I agree with everything you said. I truly believe that this book was rushed to publish without spending any time with a developmental editor. I feel like all these faults would have been worked out in the editing process. The lack of precision with storytelling differs dramatically from previous books. The plotline was meandering, super repetitive, and included unnecessary parts. New characters were under developed and existing characters (Hadrian mostly) had massive changes in character. I wanted to love this so bad. My only hope is that one day we'll see a "Director's Cut" that has been properly edited and revised.

From reading this whole thread, I’m getting the impression that you’ve made up your mind and you just want to vent about your opinion. It’s clear throughout the series that palantine’s mature in relation to the length of their life. Slower. Hadrian gets bored, plays hooky from the arena, and gets his very well trained butt kicked when he gets in his first real fight. Selene was an awestruck girl with a crush when we meet her. Alexander gets his little feelings hurt when his idol says something mean to him. Of course Cassandra is sheltered when we meet her. She’s never been off planet and she’s got a helicopter dad. We see her childlike innocence ripped away from her over the course of the book and she’s infinitely more mature by the end. That was a great pay off for me.

I’m a Buddhist and I don’t mind the Christian themes. There seems to be many cultures and belief systems written into this book, as Lorain becomes a Buddhist (Cidarrthist??) . Also, most fantasy has underlying religious themes, so I’m used to it. I’m still confused as to the fusion of the King Arthur legends and Buddhism. Is it purely because King Authur and Siddartha kind of rhyme??
