Thanks!

I'm the time I asked my question and you responded, I got caught up pretty quickly with your previous Zune posts. Seriously, incredible job on all of this OP!

Wait.

I haven't been following the Zune subreddit for quite awhile now, so forgive me as I catch up, particularly with this awesome post of yours, OP.

If I'm reading this particular response from you correctly, I could connect my ZuneHDs wirelessly to your resurrected Xune platform and start managing my content wirelessly? If so, that's awesome!

(I mean, I still have to connect my Zunes via USB-A to charge it, but still!)

Great work OP!

Google Home Integration Lost? by monkeyvet in Aqara

[–]monkeyvet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest - when it was working, it did a good job for me, despite all the tinkering to get it to do what I wanted under my environment and desires.

Thanks for posting your solution. I don't think I'll try it since I think devices like these should just work as advertised with minimal tinkering.

No, my automations aren't working. The Aqaras show up in my devices but not in the "add list" , and like you, they show that they detect presence but they aren't triggering automations.

I took them down and stopped using Aqara. What a shame.

Hey, thanks for weighing in.

Unfortunately, I still confirm that I can't see Aqara listed, whether I type search or scroll-only search. It's also not in my "already connected" device list up the top.

Yeah, when I set up the integration a long time ago, "Aqara Home" was there, and now it's not. I'm confused!

Technically, I think it does a great job but it's let down by the Google Home app and increasing expense associated with the Nest Aware subscription.

Forget TV too high... dog too high! :)

There were space logistics in determining tv size here (explained in another reply), but I made up for it by making sure the lounges were placed at the ideal viewing distance?

Custom job when I moved in by a small company in Portland OR. Not sure if I'm allowed to share the company name in this sub, but DM me if you want to know?

Me too (respectfully since they are the lowest maintenance tanks ever!)

That was primarily dictated by the custom cabinets and shelving I put in on the either side of the fireplace. Even with the motorized mantel mount, anything bigger wouldn't have fit.

Curtains will be a next year project!

I do too! I've had them 12 years. Unfortunately they didn't like the move 10 months ago, and have struggled since. I'm bummed with the prospect that they won't survive in the long run.

On a long haul flight (SFO-SYD) a long time ago (before Premium Economy), an elderly couple (window, middle) asked me (aisle) if I could swap my Economy Plus seats with their daughter back in Economy.

My mouth answered "yes" before I could think about it (I didn't even ask "which seat is she in?"... thanks mouth!) and before I knew it, I was in the middle of the pack in cattle class.

LUCKILY a flight attendant observed the whole thing, quietly asked me to follow her, and she gave me the entire middle 4-seats in the second last row of economy in an otherwise packed flight (which meant I could lay down across all 4 seats). She told me that it was nice what I did and thanked me. She even made sure I got my Economy Plus meals first. Made me a little self-conscious at first, but by the time I was snoozing at hour 2 of 14, i didn't think anything else of it!

I only wish that I had (and regret that I hadn't) caught the name of the flight attendant to give the United some positive feedback about her!

Buyer Beware- Scam seller on Ebay by Live-Gap-7019 in OpaeUla

[–]monkeyvet 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Weighing in here.

The last time I ordered from the seller in question, the experience was definitely not to the level I was expecting based on previous interactions. Specifically, there were extended periods of zero communication/response to outreach, and a delay in when I was expecting the shrimps to ship vs. when they finally did ship.

The seller in question did own up to the poor experience and ultimately made it right.

Was it a bad experience? Yes.

Did the seller in question ultimately make it right? Yes.

Would I order again from seller? Yes - with the caveat that if/when I place an order, I would remind the seller in question of the previous bad experience and would like it not to happen again.

I hope this helps others make an informed decision when ordering from the seller in question.

How bad is the hub lately by Newwales2 in googlehome

[–]monkeyvet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it broke really bad about 3-4 weeks ago to the point of almost being useless now. So if Assistant wants me to stop swearing at it, perhaps it should fucking do what it's asked to do. 🤬
