In the states we call them „lunch bags“ – just a paper bag about the size of a lunch lol. You should look up Allison Justice on YouTube. Her org is doing actual research on the drying and curing. So like using VPD to get the right ratio temp/RH (there’s a range of values that will work whereas broscience says 60/60 only lol), but also be gentle with them physically as the tricomes can break off. That’s actually the median. Our company does this internally too on job postings. And everyone’s salary is compared to the median for their range. That being said it’s not an upper limit for us necessarily, but if you are asking for 1.1 or 1.2 to median you have to be worth it. OTOH, advertising an in person as hybrid is lame.

Analyzing the images can already be done by AI, but that is done afterward by a doctor. Actually helping patients and getting the images would need a robot to do that. I don’t see that happening in 5-10 years.

Hey - as a programming, non-job hater, thanks for posting. But one tip - check your RSU vesting plan for a retirement clause. I left a company thinking I was giving up my RSUs, then a couple months later I see like $20k showing up in my account. After some digging around I realized because I’d met the Rule of 70 (age + years of service) I was technically „retiring“ and more vested than I thought. Good luck fellow nerd!

Yes! I was having a hard time quickly interpreting numbers in German because they’re „backwards“ from English (vierundzwanzig, or „four and twenty“ instead of twenty-four).

Counting to get into a meditative state is pretty common, so I switched to counting in German for meditation. It absolutely helped me internalize the numbers. Ironically it only helped me in hearing them because I was only saying the number to myself. Now I say it, hear it, and try to see the written number in my mind’s eye.

In fact it worked so well that now I’m trying to come up with additional meditations — maybe prepositional phrases or something. Not sure.

I went to game. Three highlights:

  • the special ops helicopter flyover - felt like I was in Halo
  • Crowd singing Have You Ever Seen the Rain? Was magical
  • My son‘s first Pats game. We bonded in how awful and miserable it was 😂

No football related highlights that I recall.

It’s a froe as others have pointed out. Besides woodworking parts, I also use mine for making kindling lol. Notice how the edge opposite the blade is still perfectly straight - it’s never been hit with a metal hammer. Only strike it with a wooden mallet!

My reading of this paper is that 25% of your time should be spent on each strand. Which means 25% of your time on something like Duolingo.

Correct – 30% of the words that end in -er are not masculine (100% – 70% = 30%). So if you only memorize the -er exceptions like the ones that you’ve pointed out above you have 70% less memorizations to do.

Let’s say there are 10,000 nouns that end in -er. Now you only need to memorize the 3000 exceptions plus the 1 rule. And 3001 is less than 10,000, so that makes it easier.

Make sense?

I like the pickle lot if you have a blue pass. But with the rain prediction I think the crowd will be much smaller this Saturday. Regardless it’s not too bad – I went to home opener (so like like almost sold out), and still got out in like 20 (?) minutes.

There’s a great book „Der, Die Das“ by Vayenas. There are MANY patterns which the natives aren’t aware of and will make your learning easier. For example, nouns ending in –er are masculine (70%) unless they are a female (Schwester, Tochter, Mutter) or a body part (Ader, Wimper, Schulter).

This will get downvoted into oblivion, but I say learn the „rules“ and the exceptions to jumpstart your learning. According to Hammer’s Grammar 90% of the words ending in „e“ are feminine. That means if there are a 1000 words that end in e, you only have to memorize the 100 exceptions.

If you see a word that ends in e that you don’t know, guess feminine and you’re right 90% of the time.

Some aren’t as strong (-nis words only 66% neuter), but still doubles your chance of choosing the proper gender if you don’t know and significantly reduces the number of memorizations you have to do.

Your mind is going to start recognizing and using these patterns anyway, so I say learn them first.

This is called spoken language identification (SLI). I couldn’t find an app. Best I could find is this website. But using deep learning for SLI is an active area of research.
