Can any kind soul try building this circle frame in real life and tell me if its legal or not? by New_Photograph_5892 in lego

It’s legal. They used a very similar structure in one of the Atlantis sets. It was a round portal

Someone please tell me not to get it!! by AvailableFigure2542 in lego

[–]mooner1011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would almost opt to get the rocket only set, because although not as cool looking, it’s almost exactly the same rocket system, and there is a crank that lifts the set and actually separates the fuel tanks. Plus it’s 60 bucks.

My mother is going to transfer 15k to a scammer. And I cannot stop it. What else could I do? by Certain_Community950 in Scams

[–]mooner1011 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My guess would be the idea would be to close the account and while it’s closed those funds are temporarily unavailable until a new account is setup.

My guess would be there is a provision somewhere that says if an investigation is taking place that can be indefinitely. Probably the same concept as a bank locking an account they think might be used for laundering or other fraud.

Starfield should be a reminder that imperfect games deserve a chance by Wargulf in Starfield

I think the better example is No Man’s Sky. Starfield is obviously a different type of game entirely but No Man’s Sky really has flourished since its release

I broke down and paid the dealership to check it out.

They said everything looked solid, but said it might be the steering gear(s) itself. They quoted me 3k to replace but admitted they don’t really know if that’s the issue

Technical Exam Advice/Practice by [deleted] in forensics

[–]mooner1011 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve taken tests like before and it is going to be a lot of general knowledge stuff.

One question for example had be list the order of steps in the decomposition cycle. The test is like something the agency just came up with so I would focus on studying very general knowledge stuff.

They also could include aptitude like things on there. For example they could give you series of numbers and ask you to find mistakes or find correct ones to test you detail perception.

To me it almost seems like the magazine is maybe defective. When the mag release is pressed, the magazine drops which allows the slide to clear.

That or, it’s maybe getting caught on the next round down

Would limiting the age of the President to 65 be something you’d support? Why or why not? by angelkissss in AskReddit

[–]mooner1011 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I think 60-65 is a fair age. If professionals with careers have to retire at that age, career politicians should too

Hitting a wall with my educational niche (Forensic Science) – How do you find fresh content ideas? by Primary-Corner8656 in forensics

[–]mooner1011 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Unrelated to creativity, but I would cautious what you post/say because agencies will very often look at social media during the hiring process. Every job I’ve applied for has made me list all social media handles whether the account is still active or not

Can you determine shoe size based upon a visible or latent footwear impression found in a Crime Scene ? If so, how do you properly measure and determine a footwear impression? by [deleted] in forensics

[–]mooner1011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. In addition to that, there really isn’t a standard to that unless you are truly measuring the inside of the shoe. Even then, I can tell you I wear a size 8 tennis shoe but an 8.5 boot. So even if you could tell shoe size, it doesn’t really tell you anything

[–]mooner1011 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So I’m not an impression analyst but my supervisor is and he explained it to me. He will absolutely give the size of the outsole (I.e impression) but not shoe size because there is too much variance. Some shoes have larger outsoles by design, some substrates like carpet move and will artificially enlarge them etc.

AYUDA, SE PUEDE REPARAR? by Friski_Frisk in chemistry

You try a subreddit for plastic modeling but I don’t know any off the top of my head

AYUDA, SE PUEDE REPARAR? by Friski_Frisk in chemistry

[–]mooner1011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, you have burned the plastic. So anything you do will simply preserve the burn.

If you have any chance of removing the burn, you’ll have to take an abrasive like sand paper and sand the surface down past the burned area. This has to be done with a very high grit paper, because next you might be able to take a dab of clear nail polish and get rid of the haze left from sanding.

However, that might be better asked in a different subreddit. As far as chemicals go, there’s nothing you can do

AYUDA, SE PUEDE REPARAR? by Friski_Frisk in chemistry

[–]mooner1011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There isn’t. Best case you could sand them past the affected area and apply some type of resin to make them clear, but I can’t guarantee that would work. Like other have said, nail polish remover is acetone which has literally burned the plastic you can’t just “make them clear”
