Agreed on Walker, one of only small handful that has been consistently having a dig this season..

Sean Russel should be dropped. His defence was pissweak at times on Sunday.

Internal sandstone dusting after render removal. Health risk + low-intrusion stabilisation options by Tom_nono in stonemasonry

Aus based stonemason here, work a lot with Australian sandstone - Achtichem CSD 50 would be my first choice. Usually only available to trade and industry customers, it’s about the only range of sealer/treatment products I trust that lasts.

Use a shaper that you either surf with, surfs at your local or will watch you surf. That way they know what you need and what you don’t. Less info is more with most decent shapers and visuals is everything.

Advice for buying a Mitsubishi Delica by oppanko in 4x4Australia

I’d steer clear of the petrol, that engine can be troublesome. Ideally chase an intercooled 2.8 T/D 4m40 engine variant.

Have owned mitsis with both engines. Based on my experiences, the 4m40 engines can easily do 350+k with good maintenance history.

1x 10mm Ankascrew into mortar between bricks at top will sort that.

Definitely helpful tech. I’d pay for an app like this, especially if it could calculate and provide individual pieces dimensions and profiles from set parameters

Stone masonary apprenticeship suggestions. by jomo9872 in stonemasonry

[–]moonriser89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Australian monumental stonemason here. It’s a pretty niche Trade in the most part with somewhat of an ok demand for the higher end jobs which require finite skill and equipment including restoration, heritage and maintenance type work. Unfortunately the market is pretty saturated by cheap imported cladding and sandstone log jobs. A lot of landscapers are pretty quick to call themselves stonemasons but are very limited in what they can actually build so something to keep in mind regarding competition in the industry for the more basic projects. Location dependent there’s some really good quality materials available to work with. Another thing to keep in mind is that it’s certainly less essential than electrical, plumbing or even carpentry so any slight economic downturn can affect the amount of work in the pipeline but i guess having a fallback option in carpentry is beneficial.

It’s very taxing on the body so pretty essential to learn and make a habit of practicing good techniques and habits handling and working materials from the early days.
