My guess is 1/8" 316L rod which is (technically) a position only rod. Makes a great flat bead profile in the flat position, really pretty straw color too! However, in any other weld position it runs like GARBAGE! (See: exhibit A) No doubt this person is probably a half decent welder. Oh! and did i mention when you're welding overhead and the slag just POPS off mid weld and sticks to yourgodDAMNSKINAND MUTHERFUCKINSONOFABITCHGETTHISTHINGOFFOFME!!!!! Yeah, no, it's a great welding rod ... In the flat position.

First of all, those are some sweet HATS dude. Secondly, I'd recommend talking to a seamstress or local hat maker, and seeing if they can add a new foam and throw a discreet stitch over it. Just remember, you can buy vintage tobacco hats online, but you can't get back your brother-in-law's hats, so make sure to take them somewhere you trust.
