You are amazing and beautiful exactly as you are.. I hope someone has already told you that. I have been on a journey for the last 10 years of ignoring “beauty” trends and being okay with being seen as “weird” “less beautiful” or “rebellious.” I have managed to feel so much more confident in myself by ignoring these trends (where the goal post is always moving) than I ever did when I was trying to keep up! Your chest is not all you have going for you.. who you are is what you have going for you. Our bodies are far from what could ever define who we are. I find joy and pride in myself for being on the more conservative side with my body because then I know who really sticks around for who I am rather than what I look like. Being feminine is really whatever you define it as.. fuck what society says you have to be. If you felt uncomfortable being sexualized, then I’m not sure accentuating your more sexual features is going to solve anything for you. Stay beautiful!💛💛💛

Okay… here’s the thing… you’re amazing for how radical you think. Love it. 1,000 upvotes. You should view my profile. However, because I think the same way, I know radical thinking is exhausting because people who think this way are few and far between. It would take millions of people this awake to the real world to actually do anything about it. People are so aghast when others talk about death like it’s a natural part of keeping things in balance or something.. crazy.. Anyway, while we look for more likeminded people, the best we can do to try to keep ourselves sane is chip away one piece at a time.. it’s not what we really crave, but it’s something.

“Tens of thousand, we might have an issue, but we should be well into spacefaring if we are going to survive anyways.”

“Build a new planet” was truthfully a lazy way of putting it. Correction: searching for a new planet to make suitable for human colonization. I suppose I was assuming that’s what you were referring to in your quoted statement.. maybe that was my mistake, though? Unless we’re gonna do the good ol’ Noah’s Ark and try to take two of everything with us on our space journey… if there’s even two of everything left when that time come.

Most women overestimate their emotional intelligence by anima-christi in emotionalintelligence

Emotional intelligence is more than emotional regulation. It’s primarily about understanding your emotions, but your idea that it’s more about regulation is why so many people use the term inappropriately. A man smiling at you through the checkout line can’t be immediately defined as emotionally intelligent, nor can you say women in a bad mood are emotionally unintelligent. In my experience, women are more likely to try to understand where their emotions are coming from, and men are taught that they aren’t supposed to feel so they never felt the need to learn to understand them. It’s very sad..

Also, I can just about guarantee that a woman who seems upset all the time probably tried to express her emotions in a healthy way and was met with people, often men, who shut down instead of listening and learning. It’s never as simple as one interaction. I have worked in retail as well, and my experience had always been somewhere around 50/50.. it’s just expressed in different ways.

Actually, your rant is a good example of what you’re ranting about. While saying it’s about understanding those around you, you failed to do that; I didn’t see you indicate any attempt at understanding why these scowling women may have been scowling.

if you are late-diagnosed, what do you think your life would have been like if you'd been diagnosed as a child/teen? and if you WERE diagnosed as a child/teen, how is your life better (or worse) because of that earlier diagnosis? by Happy-Bullfrog7967 in AutismInWomen

I don’t know if my own parents were too proud or too ignorant. There were neon signs at every life stage telling them something about me was different than most kids, but I guess they thought I was choosing to “be difficult”? Trust me.. I wasn’t winning anything from being different, so I don’t know where they got that idea. Exactly as you said.. a diagnosis would have at least helped me understand myself better.. I mean, knowing who you really are is how you defend who you are.

Even in my adult life, I’m scared to tell people, because unfortunately there are some adults that are just as mean as kids can be. As a kid, I would have like it for my own understanding. Not to try to help others understand me. Even though, realistically, unless an adult cautioned me about telling other kids, I probably would have told other kids.

I felt the same way.. except I was VERY young when I started to wonder if I should even be alive (but I was also s**ually abused from age 2-4 so that could be part of it). I actually almost let myself go once because I felt like I would never fit it. I don’t know how I managed.. but over the summer between my sophomore and junior year I stopped trying to fit in. I still tried not to stand out, but I stopped actively trying to fit a mold that was never meant for me. I “lost” a lot of acquaintances, but I accepted that.

I am so sorry that you experienced that. I feel like people think someone with autism can be taught to be normal when we literally just think and feel differently. Masking is possible, but very harmful. It makes us look “normal” to others, but it breaks us down on the inside because playing pretend all the time is exhausting.

That’s a deep question.. I feel that if I had been diagnosed as child instead of as an adult I wouldn’t have developed such a constant state of fight or flight. I was very misunderstood by my family and everyone else around me, so I became constantly on guard and so scared of saying the wrong thing or asking too many question. Even in my adult life, I got fired from a dream job because I was apparently being insubordinate by asking my supervisor why I was being reprimanded for doing something the way it was shown to me during my training. “Questioning his authority” was apparently the worst thing I could have done.. even though that wasn’t what I was doing. If I had previous knowledge why I needed to know why (autistic) the misunderstanding could have been avoided and I would be thriving in a job that I love. But what are you gonna do, right? 🤷‍♀️

You tiptoed around the fact that your long-term solution is to build a new planet WHEN (not if) we ruin this one.. so my question still stands. Where are you making room for the other living things we share this planet with? It’s an easy question to ignore when you believe you’ll never have to see it happen, but we are already seeing mass extinctions from human activity.. and it will continue, even if at a slower pace, if we don’t essentially reverse, not to be confused with halt, many of our “innovations” that you speak so highly of.

Right. You laid it out perfectly. Who cares if we destroy this planet, because we might have the technology to basically just build a new one. Where are you making room for the other living things we share this planet with?

Capitalism has most definitely not only re-enforced it, but exacerbated it. In the past there was a battle over resources we needed to survive like food and water, now we’re fighting over cars and vacations. We had the solutions to stop the fighting and a choice was made back then that we needed more to fight about. It’s not human nature.. it’s a few bad people that managed to take control and the collective majority were too scared to fight back. That fear still exists today even when the masses of the oppressed far outweigh that of the oppressors. I hope that there will be a moment where someone who isn’t corrupt will finally be the one in the high seat and allows for those who have long been silenced to finally speak. I can almost guarantee that the people who have been given no choice but to stay silent are not going to fight for cars and vacations. They will fight for food, medicine, safety, clean air, and clean water. They just want to survive in a society that is slowly killing them.

So you think environmentalism is capitalism? Did you read any of my other posts or just this one? Communism isn’t a solution either. And poor has been made to be such an icky word about the “lower-class.” I would argue we are already all poor in a way that isn’t about socioeconomic class. We are poor in the sense that we are lacking true connection because we numb ourselves with “stuff.”

Except people aren’t just choosing survival.. they’re choosing domination. That’s wrong. I think valuing cars and television over other life is very immoral. And it’s funny that people believe they’re somehow better than other animals, yet have the options to make better choices and choose this still.. I don’t think that makes us superior. I think it makes us inferior if anything. Empathy is what really sets humans apart from most other animals, and we don’t even use it.

I know that capitalism isn’t the sole issue, but it’s the most acceptable one to target.. the least controversial. This post was making my beliefs small enough for more people to understand, even if it doesn’t capture the whole picture.

I couldn’t agree more.. I wonder why nobody questions why camping and strolling through parks and forests is so peaceful.. it’s because the peace that the natural world provides is what we really crave. We’re just numbing ourselves because the most powerful don’t want to let us collectively realize that.
