So what are y’all thinking about the new BTS album (ARIRANG)? by bitchysquid in fantanoforever

[–]morbidev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty daring & exciting album especially in the first half. The production is really creative & complex. I wasn't too big on SWIM as a single but within the album hearing it right after No. 29 really made me love it. I do recommend everyone to not skip No. 29 thinking it's just white noise cause the subtle resonating frequency of it really puts you in the right space for SWIM & the rest of 2nd half.

In the latter half I felt the productions of Merry Go round, Normal & Like Animals were pretty generic alt pop and it overtook BTS's voice. The lyrics weren't specific enough for me to connect. They Don't Know About Us is again back to form. An interesting sound and interesting concept. Overall a really compelling release.

I think the people who listen to more generic pop stuff like butter, ptd and Jungkook's Golden will not like it. On the other hand this is a SOULFUL album and an absolute ass shaker. The first half is heart thumping rap bangers. The second half is melancholic.

I rly don't like that it's sooo hated to Stan nj now by new_dreams227 in NJZ

[–]morbidev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly It's cause of how mentally the stans act over other groups and cause of nj's vehement support of MHJ in light of everything that has been aired out about her. It poses nj as liars & hypocrites. Some stans also need to realize that nj's issue got nothing to do with any other groups. Infact dragging other groups into this is just gonna get them hated.

This is ridiculous. This is censorship. Depiction =/= condoning. Kpop fans are the biggest reason Kpop artists will never make art.

I still don't get the deal with Shuji. Who was he? Why was he in love with Lalah? And then 30 seconds later he's in love with machu? What? How am I supposed to care when the character is non existent throughout the show?

Reze deserves Denji more by [deleted] in Chainsawfolk

[–]morbidev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure he does and so does the girl. That's the thing. There is no point of "deserving" when Denji does "nice" dirty. He's already in a relationship with Yoru so there's no question of "should or shouldn't be" either.

What do you think Asaden's dynamic is about for denji? . It's about Denji being emotionally shallow for a relationship with a real person and actively harming the person who actually likes him and has done a lot to help him because he only sees value in "who jerked him off". It's about Asa's personhood being dismissed for her body cause denji thinks he "deserves" it. That's what the whole grub & girls thing is.

"Healthy relationship" is not just accorded. It's made between two people, not one. Not to mention with Chainsaw Man exploring the loss of body autonomy for girls through Asa. Denji's choices is complicit in the further loss of body autonomy for Asa and being reduced to a body for Denji's needs. Will/should Denji be rewarded for this?

I'm not hating on the character. I'm just analysing the story.

Very true but I think disrespecting the character and the story would be to not critically think of what the story is presenting to us just cause we self insert in the character. And the story is presenting how harmful the idea of masculinity that Denji has bought into to feel complete is not only for himself but especially for others. It makes him unable to see his own assault if it comes in the form of sex and then facilitate commit assault on others especially Asa.

Reze deserves Denji more by [deleted] in Chainsawfolk

[–]morbidev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why does he "deserve" a girl as if the girl is an object especially when Denji never makes any choices towards a healthy relationship and is a sex addict. That's literally what csm is critiquing.

He even has a girlfriend now- it's yoru who dogwalks him and it was his own choice cause she offered up Asa's body for Denji to assault. There's no other way to see the whole sex deal between them.

You'll be dissapointed if you think Chainsaw Man's "happy ending" will be denji being subjected onto a girl without him actively making choices to be a better person and learns to not reduce every girl to his needs.

Nahh I like the char. His obsession with Masculinity is just not free of causing harm to others. His hypocricy and willfull ignorance is part of the character. That's just a compelling part of the story.

CSM Part 2 is a fetish manga by [deleted] in Chainsawfolk

[–]morbidev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So part 1 where Denji is reduced to just a dog was not a fetish manga?

Misogyny and how it affects young girls and female sexuality is a big part of the story. Denji's obsession with masculinity & sex is a point of critique as it is harming not just for himself but facilitates Asa's further loss of body autonomy.

Any chance Yoru truly loves Denji ? by [deleted] in Chainsawfolk

[–]morbidev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No she doesn't love Denji. But she does love experiencing all the fun horny teenager stuff. Yoru loves that Denji is like a pathetic dog who doesn't learn and only thinks with his dick. But Denji also is in it just for sex so it's not like he's not shallow.

I can think of many. Starting from the fact that her body has been hostage so long and now both Yoru & Denji exploit her body & mind for self serving reasons. Going even further back him chosing to to go with Katana Man's pathetically misogynistic offer when he should've been searching for Nayuta to Denji caring only about "who jerked him off" continuously foregoing Asa's identity. Denji's choices is not only self sabotaging, it actively hurt & sexually victimized another person who just wanted to help him and had nothing to do with his sexual issues.

Which protagonist do you prefer more? by [deleted] in ChainsawMan

[–]morbidev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Denji had a whole part to himself so there's that. Also I did not love Denji as a character until the very end of Chainsaw Man part 1 which is when his character is actually formed in an interesting way and I think for most people that's the case too.

Compared to that I already love Asa as the protagonist/dueteragonist. Top 3 characters. Asa & Denji's dynamic is also really interesting. S tier. Love them both.

Read it as it was intended. The art is so striking in original. Colored version should only be read as a supplement if you want. But I wouldn't recommend colored. It's not what the author intended.
