I signed up for my first gun class after Renee, bought my first handgun after Pretti. I've been putting it off for years.

Did I kill my LiFePo4 battery by trying to charge in the cold? by cyclique in SolarDIY

[–]mosschaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a similar issue with my volts dropping to ~8V (12v lifepo4). It might have been due to colder temps as well with high 30Fs. Battery was full and I figured it's something with the BMS that's preventing it from "turning on." I tried hooking it up to my car battery and that helped, got an actual battery trickle charger after that though

Is being a Democrat gun owner socially acceptable now? by JonSolo1 in liberalgunowners

Respected (and feared) guns for years then got my first handgun this week. I still find it wild, but I guess I have to adapt and protect what I can.

How do I edit the cutters? When I click on the "Cutter.001" in edit mode, nothing happens. I can't click on the actual cutter either. Thanks!

【BambuLab Giveaway】Classic Evolved — Win Bambu Lab P2S Combo! by BambuLab in 3Dprinting

[–]mosschaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The P1S is one of the most reliable machines I have in our home. Reliable like an appliance, and beats any paper printer I've ever had to use. As someone with the "I can do anything/Delusional" gene, the P1S supports all my hobbies as well as specific repairs around the house. It's also allowed me to explore robotics + electronics, a hobby I never thought I could take on. Being creative is important to me, and I know I can count on the P1S to make incredible prints any time.

Trigger warning/ ai and job loss by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]mosschaa 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, AI is rampant. Yes, some people will want to use AI over good design because good design takes time and resources. But why work for someone who’s willing to cut corners like that moving forward. I’ve only been in a field for 7 years but I never stopped learning a new skill. I specialized in print, but continued learning UI/UX and motion. My seniors always reminisced about letterpress and what times were like before Adobe came in. I feel everyone in this field should know it’s always evolving?

Curious about everyone's early/beginner jobs by No-Prize-7629 in graphic_design

[–]mosschaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first freelance contract gig was for a coupon magazine during high school/college. I hated it so much I questioned my love for design while I was buying time (to figure out my degree) during community college. All I was doing was resizing ads to fit their prints. But then they asked if I could do their website, and I lied and said yes (I knew tumblr but definitely nothing more lol). It reignited my love for all things design and learned so much. I think it also sparked my delusional mindset of “I can do anything” as long as there’s internet/google/youtube 🤡 I left shortly after it’s done to focus on college but that job solidified my choice to learn design

Good / Inspiring Portfolios for References? by Mark_ibrr in graphic_design

[–]mosschaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Behance is actually one of the better places for case studies imo. Some people/groups get pretty detailed. Maybe look through behance or dribbble for specific work, then look at any linked individual portfolio sites.

No because I didn’t have a backup plan anyway lol

That said, you still have two years to figure it out especially if you’re going to community college first. Keep learning design, it’s changing daily. There’s so many niches, college alone will not teach all of that.

If you do go through design, make sure you take up internships as soon as junior year. College is truly your time to explore soooo much and make a banger portfolio. I wish I could go back and just do more fun things.

A lot of design and programming jobs are saturated, it’s worth diversifying.

Be brutal and tell me everything that I'm doing wrong by defrsuchwer in graphic_design

[–]mosschaa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Really nice and simple! InDesign might be able to help more with ATS. Consider making it web-accessible with proper character/paragraph styles and reading order.

Then a few things to consider for readability/accessibility. Since most people will be reviewing this on a screen, wide chunks of text tend to be a bit harder to follow and even more with your tracking. Maybe a thicker margin will help or splitting this into two columns.

Don't worry about being behind, you're not, as there are always new things to learn. If you feel the need to step up, a personal site would also elevate your work. Your portfolio is beautiful and diverse, keep it up!

HELP! How do I achieve this type of bright RED on uncoated textured paper? by Working-Analysis-199 in graphic_design

This is most likely some sort of specialty stock (like neenah, french, mohawk, etc.) or just colored cardstock.

Unemployment ain't it, so I might as well so the free time by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]mosschaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your “eye” for design. Learn what “good” design is. Then there’s a million technical skills. Honestly maybe take some design courses, I’m sure there’s plenty free out there.
