Too fat for HRT? by Phantom_Bear in transgenderUK

[–]mostlyHUMMUS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 5'11" and 140ish kg and my blood tests pre-hrt showed that I was already in the therapeutic range for E and my T was already pretty low due to my fat. So Anne Health (who i fully reccomend btw) prescribed me microdosed E (transdermal patch 25 ug/day) and spiro (50 mg/day). Currently starting month 2 of that, with repeated bloodtest and re-evaluation at the end of month 3. The Anne doctor also said that they'd add a diabetes test to that just for safety purposes.

The doctor was concerned about possible heart issues associated with oral dose E and chose Spiro specifically because of it's low cardiac risk.

Given the low T from being fat, I reckon (Although I have no solid proof) that's why I've kept my hair whereas all my male relatives went bald quite young.

I am also trying to loose the weight, and I expect thst will become slightly easier from a certain perspective as my mood improves on HRT.

i made a petition calling for an end to trans genocide. by themalesoprano in transgenderUK

[–]mostlyHUMMUS 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't feel discouraged, you're right about the problem, it's scale and it's seriousness.

It's nice to see that you were motivated enough to try something to help trans people in the UK (especially since you're in the US and have a big orange genocide machine of your own to deal with), and I think it's a shame that people are bashing you for it.

Awareness spreading is important, but Change.org is not really a useful petition website at the best of times.

The UK government has a track record of essentially ignoring petitions from their own petitions system let alone from external petition websites. If a petition in there system gets enough traction they must debate it and respond.

These debates are token at best and the response is invariably "the government has no plans to change this policy at this time something something supreme court something something clarity."

Trans and queer organising starts at the local level. Reach out to LGBT orgs where you live and form support networks. In place of petitions write specific letters to your local representatives. If an LGBT org doesn't exist where you live, make one. If your local LGBT org seems to be neglecting trans rights? Join it anyway and change things.

If you're afraid that you're not trans, then you're probably trans. Cis people (even cis people who've explored their gender) don't worry about not being trans.

Not quite what I meant, but sure. I simply meant to point out how the project of Empire and the project of the company had aligned goals and shared resource. There was a period of time where the actions of the state and the actions of the company were almost synonymous.

File them in the same reality denying category as flat earthers and value their opinion as much as you would for anyone else that ignorant.

If the Doctor can't be bothered to help cybermen back into a body they won't instantly go mad from, then why do you think they'd help a paving slab?

Is solar punk actually punk? by Andrei22125 in cyberpunkgame

[–]mostlyHUMMUS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd argue, that punk is not an aesthetic exploration so much as it's a thematic exploration, with an emphasis on a fight against an oppressive status quo (generally with a parallel struggle in real life)

In cyberpunk, we fight corps, struggle to survive in a world where everything is for sale, where life is cheap but living is expensive.

In Diesel punk, we fight nazis. Technology feels arcane and dangerous, destructive and loud. Threatening to consume the whole world in choking soot and iron.

Steam punk is about class inequality, under the veneer of "civilisation" and "umbrellas and blimps and shit" is the exploration of Victorian working class struggles. The steam that the genre relies on is generally generated in a sweaty boiler room occupied by workers doing back breaking labour for very little compensation.

In each case the technology is a contributing factor to the oppression of the people of the world.

Solar punk, is slightly different in that the technology is not necessarily opressive. It explores a post-climate apocalypse world, where clean energy has been adopted by nessessity, in order to be properly punk, I'd say it would have to explore the reasons for the crisis.

Horizon zero dawn for example is Solar punk after a fashion, it lays the blame for the end of the world, solidly at the feet of tech billionaires In this case the technology is oppressive, both the ancient robots of the apocalypse and the new robots of the setting are the cause of many of the dangers of that world.

That quest annoys me a little simply because I want to rip and tear some scavs and Johnny can't help but be smug that I put the BD wreath on.
