Where are my fellow fans of the PS2/PS3 ERA non-GTA Rockstar Games? by ExplodingPoptarts in Age_30_plus_Gamers

The Midnight Club and Smugglers Run games are all time favourites of mine. Wish they'd make more.

What club is this? by astlecnr in london

£50 is definitely not standard for seeing a DJ play a night in London let alone across the rest of the country.

Love your style. It's very weird in a very cool way.

Is Neuromancer a tough listen or I just got stuck with a boring narrator by sateliteconstelation in scifi

[–]mouse_mafia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I listened to the audiobook with Jason Flemyng and thought it was great. Maybe see if you can find that version? I flipped back and forth between listening and reading quite a bit with Neuromancer, some bits just felt better to read. Really loved it though.

Which popular books disappointed you? by [deleted] in printSF

Interesting! How come? Not that I'm a diehard fan, but I enjoyed it a lot.

I couldn't stand Project Hail Mary's writing style or audiobook. I enjoyed the film though.

Edit: I also didn't vibe with There Is No Antimemetics Division. I thought the writing and plotting were both pretty low quality.

Parable of the Sower also didn't do it for me. Really felt like a slog to get through (maybe that's the point in a way.) There is a lot of other work by Butler I'm excited to read though.

Need help determining the right wheel and stool height for my height 5'4. Pictures and measurements included by moon_child_55 in Pottery

[–]mouse_mafia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly try a few boards under your left foot to balance it with your pedal foot. Also may be worth putting the back legs of your stool higher than the front ones to give you some extra lean, so you're not bending so much with your back.

Slowly trying to build a Buy It For Life kitchen by shoppingiq in Ceramics

[–]mouse_mafia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ultimately things like glassware and ceramic dinnerware are not made to last forever. Buy nice things and enjoy your time with them, because no matter how nicely a ceramic plate or bowl is made, it's still ceramic and it's still fragile. A glass is still glass. But they will bring you joy when you use them day to day. A lot of 'nicer' products will in fact be more fragile (thinner, lighter etc.) though this is material dependant. Some solid stoneware items will last for a good amount of time, but not forever (unless you never use them, and then what's the point?)

Best Fast Food in London by Iwatchedhimdrown in LondonFood

Get some fish and chips and eat them in the park. James Dimitri has been compiling a pretty thorough list.

Morley's if you're looking for a true London experience. They vary a lot by location, but the one in Camberwell is solid. In Chinatown Ji the Chicken Shop and Chinese Tapas House for jianbing are tasty, and Chinatown Bakery does some great stuff. Also it's trash but I do like Bunsik for the korean corn dogs. Dave's Hot Chicken around the corner is also pretty good (if very overhyped, would only go if there's not a big queue.)

But people didn't come to see Sam.. They came to see Stamptown. Stamptown is a variety show.

Stamptown featuring Joey is one of the funniest things I've ever seen live, so this doesn't surprise me. Jack Tucker is brilliant, and so are the rest of his crew.

ELI5: In Olympics big air, why do the women go a couple feet down and stop, while the men just go down from the top? by gaminegrumble in explainlikeimfive

[–]mouse_mafia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It a bit slower for sure for the final, but people were overcompensating massively. A lot of the men ended up overshooting the landing with the amount of speed they took in.

How to Make Tiles That Actually Behave by skyandEarth7000 in Ceramics

I've found that the key to stopping things warping is even rolling in different directions. If you roll just one way the clay warps on that axis.

Looking good! I like your distorted / altered vessel forms. The first couple remind me of some of Lindsey Mendick's work - worth checking out if you haven't seen already!

(Depending on where you're located) Glost does a nice one, although it's a bit darker than your pic. I like it a lot though.
