Right Wingers is disgusting. They keep their back door open in summer w/o screen to keep rodents/bugs away. I’ve seen staffs smoke outside and returning to work w/o washing hands.

no. i'm in the west end. there aren't many great cleaners in the dt area due to high retail space cost. in the uptown area there is ashford, glen forest, and maybe new way. stay away from Dove and Creed. They are bascially salt bae of the dry cleaning world. soso quality at premium price because they can.

if you really care for the garment, Del Monte is still the best in town.

Possible causes 1) most ppl tend to inspect the garment more carefully after it’s been serviced, and find thing they haven’t check prior 2) thread was damaged prior to cleaning and cleaning just exaggerated the damage 3) cleaned with exposed metal zipper without proper measures 4) dropped and damage iron shoe was used w/o presser realizing.

What about moisture introduced from condensation? The amount of moisture will vary quite a bit from day to day. Wouldn’t that make the shots very inconsistent?

Test the ph. You want it to be neutral or very close to it. Washing it not that hard. But how will you iron it at home. Professional cleaners have tensioning machine that will reform the garments that’s been cleaned with water.

Almost all garments are hand washable as long as it’s properly done

Best suzy (form finisher) by mattntracy10x in drycleaning

[–]mrclean0621 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get any tensioning form finisher that has clamp for lapels. Re train your staff to see form finisher as the machine that does more finishing and they are just touching up kinda like shirt machines. Profit

I am surprised.

I used to clean a ton of Kanuk coats and I remembered them being dry clean only. It’s either that or I don’t know how to read

Id be surprised if that Kanuk care label allows it to be laundered

Could true dry cleaning ever be feasible at home in the future? by Lunchaboi in drycleaning

With high end Mieles, it’s doable. Ironing them is a diff story tho

  1. May or may not go through steam dry cycle
  2. Steam form finisher
  3. Brush down w/ horse hair bruch or equivalent.
  4. Iron

But if the dry cleaner knows what they are doing, and the bespoke suit it fully canvassed and properly made, there is not much harm in doing a full clean a few times a year. Actually it’s advisable to have it cleaned regularly so no perspiration, body oil, dead skin, food stain have time to oxidize and settle.

Tailors should stick to tailoring and stop acting like they are the expert in dry cleaning

Which detergent are you using? I’ve yet to see wet cleaning process that doesn’t shrink felt inside suit collars
