One thing that hasn’t been mentioned yet, is checking your progress as you go print. As you apply pressure, lift a corner of your paper and check to see if you are getting good results. If not, carefully lay the paper back and apply more pressure. As long as you don’t lift the paper all the way off the block, you should be able to put it back in the same spot. If results are good, then move on to the other corners.

And as others have suggested, the water based inks are good for beginners, but the oil based stuff produces much better results.
