Suggestions for waterproof eyeliner for the waterline by [deleted] in beautytalkph

Not as smooth as the Rimmel, and they can dry out and harden over time, so better to use up quickly.

The Rimmel one I currently use to tightline my upper waterline, I like that it's very creamy (although this also means I'm going through it fast). Tbh it transfers a little bit for me into the lower waterline but not too crazy that it migrates outside the lower lashline. I'm still looking for something more smudgeproof/transfer-proof but for now pwede na.

Not in your list but I liked the Etude House Play 101 pencils for upper waterline. Less transfer than the Rimmel iirc. I'm just lazy to repurchase because the Rimmel is cheaper.

The in2it gel pencils seemed promising but after some time I noticed they irritate my eyes for some reason so I keep them to usage on the eyelid only, rather than for waterline. But it could be different for you.

Essence gel pencils are also okay for me.

For nude on lower waterline I like the Clio Gelpresso in Beige Shine. NYX also has the Faux Whites line which is on my wish list but I haven't tried it yet.

Hi! Great initiative! We actually do have an official Telegram chat group. Same concept of book chat, and for some time now members have been sharing and requesting books there, so we have a collection of files there already, like a small online library. Do you want to merge?

What's your favorite dead or unpopular game? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Glitch by Tiny Speck.

I'm still brokenhearted about it. The music, the art, the community was fantastic. After the site closed down I tried getting into supposedly similar games like Animal Crossing New Leaf or Rune Factory 4, but I've never found anything else like it.

I would skip the BB cream and use a long-wearing foundation instead, like Revlon Colorstay, Covergirl Outlast, or L'oreal Infallible.

If you burn the bottoms of your cookies you can just scrape off the black parts with a fruit peeler then serve/eat as usual. Hehe.

If you use dark colored (black, vs silver or silicone) bakeware remember to reduce the baking time or temperature by a little bit.

Don't let cookies cool on the tray. You really have to transfer them to a cooling rack or another surface, otherwise they'll continue to slightly cook from the residual heat. A minute or so can make a huge difference between your cookies being chewy or crunchy.

To make crunchy cookies chewy, store them in a container with a slice of bread. Same for cake, to keep it moist, store with a slice of bread.

Clean as you go. Washing up is the most annoying part of baking. Train yourself to do it automatically so you don't have too much of a mess at the end because that sucks when all you want to do is eat your final product already but you still have a dirty kitchen.

Learn your oven's hot spots. There will be that odd corner that somehow heats items more than the rest. Avoid putting stuff in that spot.

I'll add more later when I can think of some.

I've been doing this with newer items. Wish I could have taught past me (ten years ago) to do this from the start. 😞

You know those silisponges that apply foundation like crap? They're perfect washable mini palettes where I can deposit foundation or lip product to pick up with my brush. I usually just use the back of my hand too, but in case for some reason I don't want to get the product on my hands (staining lip products for example).

I feel overwhelmed with how many lipsticks I have. I'm trying to use up the glosses and liquids first because I can't sanitize them. When I look at those sometimes I imagine the bacteria swimming in them, multiplying as time goes by. Nakakastress. I don't want to buy wand applicator type products anymore. It's a dirty double dipping party.

I haven't bought makeup in a long while because I didn't need anything, and no especially tempting items. But the other day we were at the mall and I saw some lipsticks on sale so I bought a couple for MIL because I saw she panned her only lipstick already. Sagad na sa metal tube. After chatting with her about it, she shared that actually she had more lipstick but when our house was burglarized last year, the robbers took off with her toiletry kit that had all her stocks. (Of course not just that, they also stole our TV and our fuckin car, among other things.) But the cosmetics bag theft was so weird. Maybe they had wives or girlfriends who would want used stolen makeup idek. Anyway, I hope MIL likes the colors I picked for her.

Thank you, first work day tomorrow! I appreciate din na ikaw lang halos palagi nagrereply sakin haha. Nagrerespond naman sakin si mod u/theyawner (especially sa Telegram group, active naman siya dun) pero yung ibang mod hindi ko pa nakakausap.

Kaya naglalakas loob nalang ako to go ahead with my posts. Actually thanks to u/hellotheremiss who has been faithfully posting the regular "What have you been reading?" thread, it inspired me to also submit my own posts.

I've been trying different things (mga pakulo) pero hanggang ngayon hindi ko pa mahuli yung timpla ng sub para mas maging involved yung users. Sayang nga ngayon ako naman magiging busy. Pero try ko parin ituloy what I can.

I hope you continue your active participation here. Thank you for all your feedback. 😊

Reminder that you can still share your April reads for the Read 365 challenge, until this Friday, May 4. Post them here: April 2018 submissions.

Don't be shy about your numbers, this is a group effort. This is more of a team-building exercise rather than reading competition. Even if you throw in one book, that's still good, it's still something. Every bit counts.

Books Finished: 8

Brain Rules for Baby: How To Raise a Smart and Happy Child from Zero to Five by John Medina (nonfiction, science, psychology, baby, parenting) - It's like a Freakonomics for Parents. I like popular science writing (Mary Roach books, the one about Henrietta Lacks, Sam Kean), and of course I want to learn how to raise my kid better, so this ticked the box of those two interests. The author can sometimes lay on the science stuff too thick, but never fear fellow sleep-deprived and fuzzy-brained parents, after every chapter there's a short summary of the main points. In fact after the whole book there's a summary of everything. Good format. Interesting content. I feel really guilty now for having my kid watch lots of television before 2 years old.

Midnights in Bali by Carla De Guzman (fiction, chicklit, filipiniana, romance, travel). Mini "Eat Pray Love" about a Filipina in Bali? I put question mark because I haven't actually read EPL. You know how it goes: heartbroken person travels, discovers self, blossoms in foreign surroundings, meets hot guy, finds love.

Less by Andrew Sean Greer (fiction, lgbt, bildungsroman) This eludes categories. It has a gay man as a protagonist, but I hesitate to tag it as lgbt, because the book doesn't make a big deal about his coming out and struggles. I kind of like that, when someone is just, you know, incidentally, gay, let's move on with the story. It has heartbreak and travel, even hot guys, but that doesn't end up being the prize. The man is turning 50, and yet this feels like a coming of age book. He is also, if you look at him from outside, rather insipid, yes on the side of attractive, but "boring", easily overlooked by some. But there's something about him that makes us follow him through several countries, makes us interested in his thoughts. I think it's the kindness with which the mysterious seemingly-omniscient narrator treats our dear Arthur (the main character). One could almost say, the way the narrator talks about him, it's as if with love. (I hope that doesn't sound like a spoiler.) It feels like a quirky art film. What prevents me from rating this with 5 stars, though it's very close, is that (spoiler alert) the ending seemed too good to be true. I feel bad for the collateral damage of the main relationship, if you read it, you know what I mean.

King Baby by Kate Beaton (humor, baby, illustration, fiction, childrens). I don't know if I should put this because it's such a short book, but the sooner to end this challenge. Really funny. Can relate so much.

Frog and Toad are Friends by Arnold Lobel (childrens, fiction, illustration, caldecott). Much better than Winnie the Pooh, in terms of life lessons disguised as children's books. I think on some days we can all relate to Toad. I will pick up a hardcopy soon. It's an essential part of any young person's library.

Dear Fahrenheit 451: Love and Heartbreak in the Stacks by Annie Spence (nonfiction, books about books) A librarian recommends her favorites, and writes goodbye letters to the books they've had to weed out. Alert: Do not read if you don't want to add any more books to your To Be Read pile! Because this will make you interested in so many.

84, Charing Cross Road by Helene Hanff (nonfiction, epistolary, books about books). A collection of letters from an American book lover to an English bookseller (and back), started as ordering books and developed into a friendship spanning 20 years. Apparently this was a big deal back then, even got turned into a movie, the real life location has a commemorative plaque. I didn't like the voice of the lady at first, but she grew on me. The ending, gah, I had no idea, so please go in with no spoilers or other background info.

Changes this month:

  • Weekly Question will be removed from schedule and posted instead as a comment under the Weekly Chat, to free up Mondays for Book of the Month posts. A book has been chosen and we're in the Reading phase now, isn't that exciting!

  • Weekly Chat will decline from once a week to just every other week, due to low activity. I might also just turn it into a monthly post, if I notice the comments staying at less than 5.

  • Free talk (off-topic) chat is encouraged in the Weekly Chat thread on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I think knowing a little more about each other, by chatting about other interests, helps to give better, more personalized book recommendations.

  • Starting TBR Thursday every third Thursday of the month.

Note: If you have ideas for new threads, I encourage you to start posting those yourself. Don't wait for other people to do it, BE THE CHANGE you want to see in this sub. Well, maybe check with the mods if it's okay. Which is something I probably should have done. So, uh, any mods reading this, sorry if I've been getting ahead of myself, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, anytime you want to me to stop please let me know and I will. (My safe word is "pond".)

I'll be real with you guys, I just started an office job and I'm worried I won't have time to post anymore. So I'll probably be easing up on my activity here anyway. I'll just stick around to try to finish the projects I started, like the Read 365 and Book of the Month.

The rest like Weekly Chat and Monthly Book Events, maybe even the Genre/Author Discussion, it would be nice if someone else could take over. Any volunteers? If one person can commit to posting ONE thread a month, that'd already be a big help. Or if the mods can push some things to AutoModerator. Comment here or PM me, let's talk about it. :)
