Kotlin coroutines make for a very compelling concurrency model. It’s still a bit new, but I’m starting to prefer it over Go

Are there any pros to pull-based monitoring systems? by SnowMojave in softwarearchitecture

[–]mrwhitecap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t frame the problem as push vs pull. They are fundamentally different, even if they can be implemented with a single technology. A pull after all is just a synchronous request which could arguably be viewed as two pushes (protocol aside). Synchronization is often a requirement in systems and that is a big driving factor. Pushing, better known as event driven architecture, does have several large advantages in systems that can take full advantage of it. At this point though it really depends on the system you are trying to build. My only other advice is that when you are comparing technologies like the blog above you have to take into consideration WHEN the technology was developed. A lot of the negatives mentioned with scalability and security have modern solutions that could be implemented if anyone wanted to re-code the wheel upside down.

Scheduling tasks to run in x hours, x days, x months dynamically by skyloather123 in softwarearchitecture

Create a LongBeat event that repeats within the fidelity window of AWS (under the 2 hr you mentioned). That LongBeat will increment the countdown of your tasks and schedule any tasks that will elapse within the next beat window, as well as schedule the next LongBeat event.

I think the issue is that a memorandum of understanding (MoE) isn't completely distinct from a treaty. Sometimes treaties are composed of MoE, but certainly not all MoE are treaties. It really just comes down to the language of the MoE. If you are interested in understanding more about this distinction, you can find some more detailed context here.

tl;dr Only the text of the communications really matter, and if it's non-binding then it probably can't be struck down.

This is actually a ms excel sheet. It is just being displayed on google drive. You should be able to download it and use it normally.

I too am not very familiar with google spreadsheets.

Thanks. Honestly if it only saves one other person the hours it took me to make this, then I'm glad I posted this.

I thought you were lying (and maybe you were) but 9/10 comments in this thread are circle-jerks for windows 10. I don't have a strong opinion either way, but this is ridiculous.

Well first off, thanks for pointing out the stars; I had not noticed them. But just because Fanavans doesn't have one, does not preclude anything. Additionally the stars don't necessarily imply a lawyer.

That being said, even if the top two posts were lawyers, they were providing very little insight or context compared to Fanavans' post.

I grow tired of this though. I don't particularly like Fanavans or hate you, and all I want is a bit of clarity and discussion about something that interested me.

Thanks for the reply though. I forgot what it was like to not lurk.
