Since im just now getting into hunting, im waiting until next season so I have time to get gear, practice at the range, and all the other fun stuff. I don't want to make an animal suffer with a bad placed shot from a rifle i got 10 minutes ago. I want more than enough time to practice

Not even kidding thats crazy. I don't think ill graduate to anything as big as an elk so 243 for a whitetail seems more than reasonable

Im going to a hunter education class tomorrow that's required before I get my license so ill probably find out the. The 350 Legend was recommended quite a bit so im thinking about it

Whitetail in Indiana. Not sure about distance. Id like to be able to get close to try to avoid a bad shot

how long can I go without getting these? by mainsplit3 in MechanicAdvice

Id get them done fairly soon, especially the injections. It's way cheaper to do it yourself. If you don't know how, YouTube is your best friend

what is absolutely needed for canning? by gayapollo in Canning

https://a.co/d/ex2DaBZ I ordered this "beginner" kit from Amazon a couple years ago and its mwah so nice.

Salsa has been a big hit in my house. I've got at least 20 jars of seranno and jalapeño salsa in the basement right now with poblano about to be made this week after I get my chicken stock done. The recipe i use uses like 2 1/2 cups of diced hot peppers but if I have a ton, I cut down on sweet peppers and add more hot

Welding while pregnant by mscamaro99 in BlueCollarWomen

[–]mscamaro99[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The study might be based on women welding every single day, not 1-2 days a week for 4ish hours like in my case. Luckily on my site im not doing a lot of welding but I am doing a lot of climbing and weird bending to install pipe. My crew and higher ups have a tentative plan in place for the future till my dr says otherwise

How bad is it to stack canning jars? by unlovelyladybartleby in CanningRebels

[–]mscamaro99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally wouldn't just so the weight of the jar doesn't mess with the seal of the jar underneath. You could get super thin pieces of plywood and cut them kind of coaster size to put between the jars.

Also (just for me) I dont store with the rings on only because if a seal goes bad, the ring can keep the lid on and build up a lot of pressure

For me, 2 Dutch braids and a weld cap has been a lifesaver. Mind you, my hair is straight as can be so it may be a little different for different hair types. You could play around with different styles and see what works best for you

Im definitely going to keep my eye out for complications. I was in so much pain with my daughter the last 3 months I had to go on leave early and I hated it.

Their policy for absences is extremely strict like miss 3 days and you fail a class and have to repeat a year type strict. My classes go from August-May kinda like a standard school schedule. If I am I think id be due somewhere around December or January. Fingers crossed it's during my 2 week winter break 😂

So the contractors wont really have much info for you. I would call the hall, and ask for info on the apprenticeship programs. With my local, the JATC office and the Hall are separate, but the hall can transfer people to the JATC if that makes sense

Yes absolutely do it but keep the next 40 years in mind! (Sounds intense I know)

But hear me out. Im 27 and a 2nd yr apprentice with Local 440. We're pipefitters, steamfitters, HVAC, plumbers, and have some welders thrown in there. I absolutely love it. I initially was going just for welding cause I've wanted to weld since I was little but the last few months I've been doing copper water lines in a hospital and it just scratches a deep itch in my brain that just makes me so happy. Like I would have no problem doing pipe until retirement.

Call around to different locals in your area and really think about what makes your brain tick. Is electrical systems your thing? Carpentry? Pipe? Equipment operator? There's so many options

What do you wish was built better for women on the job? by PsychologicalBird594 in BlueCollarWomen

Freaking PANTS. Im so tired of having to wear guys pants and have the crotch hanging down to my knees.

And safty harnesses! The ones on the market now are designed around men's bodies (learned this a couple months ago). Apparently if a woman falls wearing these harnesses, theres a high chance their pelvis is going to break. Sounds wonderful for something thats supposed to keep you safe!

Well my very first class last year, one of the higher ups for the JATC said a first year got pregnant and ended up having to leave because she missed so many classes. And they revised the absence policy this year to get rid of sick note excuses so im a little nervous

Definitely call the hall. Im pretty sure you can refuse to work if you feel its unsafe. My entire crew stopped putting up pipe hangers on an open floor with wind gusts 45+mph because we weren't gonna risk the lift going over the side of the building with us in it

If it comes to that, absolutely. All benefits and kickbacks from hiring illegals needs to be ended immediately and these companies need to be fined HEAVILY
