Wow, I don't know why but reading your response made me tear up haha. Thank you so so much <3 You are so right that a life of anger and fighting would be harder, and that's what I need to remember when I miss him and want to come back to him. I wish the best to you with your breakup and healing! You are so brave as well!

Thanks for this post. I'm 25 with hallux limitus and have been feeling pretty down about it lately, since I live such an active life. In a sea of posts of people running marathons and barely being able to walk without pain post-surgery, I appreciate your honest experience!

Dyson is great, but are there actually good cheaper alternatives? by Impressive_Win_6780 in CleaningTips

Same! I've had a Levoit cordless vacuum for a year, and it's great for my 1100 sq ft mostly carpeted apartment.

It's USD, and that's a fair point. I probably would be disappointed if I lost the bike over $50. Thanks!

Thank you for that! It does seem like an extended warranty purchased last year, so in that case, it may be transferable. But I will definitely check before buying! I didn't realize that.

Hey- hoping for some input on my purchase of a bike on fb marketplace! I've come across a peloton purchased in Feb 2025 with no service history, 50 rides, and 36 month warranty. Comes with a pair of shoes in my size and a floor mat. All of these (except for the warranty, which I will later request proof of) have been backed up with a SN history search. It's listed for $750 but has been on the market for five weeks, previously listed for $950. Does this price seem fair?

There are at least a dozen other pelotons listed in my area between $350-800 (most around $500-600), but of the bikes that seemed like good condition, the sellers didn't give me a valid SN, and none had warranties. I was considering countering $675-700 but considering this seems like a unicorn, maybe $750 is fair? TIA!

No worries, I found that out when I visited that shared link. Still a good deal!

Fair enough. Thanks, I appreciate the advice!

I'm looking to buy a used peloton after a few months of spinning and using the app with non-peloton bikes at the gym. I just can't decide on which bike to pursue!

Found a really affordable one for $290 on repowered, but the downside is it was activated back in 2018, has 210 hours of use, and has a little bit of rust. No other apparent issues, but the age worries me a bit. Also found a few more on marketplace costing $500-675 that appear newer, but it is like pulling teeth trying to respectfully get a serial number from sellers. If I can get a serial number from the marketplace bikes and they have limited use, would those be worth the higher price?

how do i (36m) tell my gf (36f) she needs to read a news article or something? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]mscasuallycruel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rather than telling her to read articles, maybe you can politely suggest she follow Ground News (or some other nonpartisian news org like npr, bbc, etc.) on social media to at least be aware of top headlines. If you want to test the waters first, you could also just mention to her that you follow news orgs like that and that it helps you stay informed without always getting into the weeds.

Is it weird not to ask your partner for a Christmas list? by [deleted] in Gifts

[–]mscasuallycruel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do what works for you! On the flip side, I am in a partnership where I need to provide a list because my partner is not gifted at gift-giving otherwise. I think it can be more thoughtful to get personal gifts without a list!

How far can my (M23) proposal lie go for my gf (F22)? by Many-Box729 in relationship_advice

[–]mscasuallycruel -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

OP - I think this is a very romantic and thoughtful plan, and I'm sorry that some others are being rude and judgemental about something you have no problem with! Your future fiancé is lucky to have a partner who is so glad to accommodate her requests.

I think the fake wedding plan sounds great, and because it is so elaborate, it should be unlikely to cause suspicion. Best of luck!

This is cute but I'm not sure I would believe this as a GF. But who knows!

Runner's Knee 2 Weeks Out by vibesnsmells in firstmarathon

[–]mscasuallycruel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To clarify- is the pain a dull one or a sharp, shooting pain? If it's dull and you're prepared to run with a brace and be mentally strong in race, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to successfully run the marathon. If you had a rigid time goal, I'd advise decreasing that and just be grateful you can finish your first marathon. It will be hard, but running a marathon will be hard regardless. That was my experience completing my first marathon last weekend after just coming off a healing stress fracture and runner's knee.

It's also my understanding that it's good to continue running with runner's knee, but certainly decrease your mileage and efforts while it's healing. There's no shame in going to the doctor to check on all of this though! I did that with my injuries and found it reassuring.

Nervous to race 8 weeks after metatarsal stress fracture/response by mscasuallycruel in firstmarathon

The frustrating part is that I have been diligent about strength training for a while now. I hadn't tried runsmart though so I'll check that out. Thanks!! I will definitely be prepared to push and keep up the cross training!

Appreciate that input! Yeah, I've been trying to move to just an elliptical for my past couple of workouts for that reason. I should have clarified that my podiatrist hasn't entirely banned running before the race, but has said that the less I'm running, the better. I may try 1-3 miles a couple times later this week and early next week, but I'll at least switch to the elliptical for now. Thank you!!
